Default **Fram SureDRAIN - Anyone try it out yet???**

Fram SureDRAIN - you can drain your oil with no tools, no mess and no hot oil on your hands

Anyone try it yet?
Does it leak?
Do you need to put lock tight or teflon tape on the treads when you install it to prevent leaks?

Check it out at this url:
http://www.autobarn.net/frasdseries.html

Price is only $14.95. It is about $12.00 at Walmart

http://www.fram.com has specs on it.

Kit comes with:

Proprietary SureDRAIN Valve - this unique, heavy duty Actuator Valve is precision engineered to permanently replace your existing oil drain plug and allow instant oil access and draining.

Twist on Drain Hose - Designed for fast, easy, twist on operation, the heavy duty FRAM drain hose starts the flow of oil directly into your receptacle with the turn of your wrist.

Added Protection Dust Cover - To keep the SureDRAIN valve free from road dirt and safe from undercarriage debris, the ultra-rugged SureDRAIN dust cover locks firmly into place until the next oil change. Like all SureDRAIN parts, this dust cover has been tested against leaks, corrosion, vibration and road damage.

i saw that at walmart, costs like $13. only thing i didnt like was that it comes w/ a hose that you screw on and it pushes on something causing it to drain. so if you take the cap off it wont drain, only when you hook the hose up, get it? hard to explain but if you look at it youll know what i mean....

Sorry for being a dick, but I HATE Fram. This sounds typical of them. Who gives a flying f**k? You still have to crawl under your car to change the filter, getting hot oil and **** all over your hands, not to mention the engine, header, suspension and your driveway, no matter how careful you are. Removing and replacing the drain plug is the easy part. Plus, that POS is gonna get knocked off the first time you run over something in the road. "A fool and his money are easily parted..."

There, I feel better now!

You are aware that when not in use, it is just like any other drain plug, just with a schrader valve.....

im gonna have to agree w/BDC on this one.
fram stuff is okay. but dont even bother with something like that.
ANYTHING can go wrong.
id rather stick w/the standard way of changing oil. the way everyones been changing oil for the last 50 years.
just my thought

A regular drain plug sets almost flush with the pan. You couldn't knock it off with a sledge hammer. The Fram toy with its garden hose drip cap hangs down inches from the road. I can guarantee you any valve that hangs down under a car like that is going to get knocked off by road turds. If you don't believe me, try it. Your funeral...

Secondly, they say you don't have to get "hot" oil on your hands. While that may be true, you're still going to get oil on your hands, whether or not it's hot or cold. Look, you have to get under your car to connect a hose to it, right? Assuming the hose is clean when you attach it to the valve, it isn't going to be clean when you remove it and replace it with the cap. How about the drain pan? How they going to keep hot oil off your hands when you remove it from underneath the car? yada yada yada

Come on, bro, this is just another way for Fram to rip off a stupid and unsuspecting public, just like their crappy 'radiation orange' oil filters.

There you go! Fram could make some 'radiation orange' jumpsuits and gloves, and we could all be DEVO...

I agree with BDC- just another gimmick like neon valve stem cap things.

However, if you guys are getting oil and **** all over yourself when you change your oil, you're not doing it right. I can, and will demonstrate this for anyone willing to stop by, chage my oil without getting a drop on my clothes and so little oil on my hands that it's not even worth it to wash with soap and water.

I'm sorry. But, excuse me, and who gives a flying crap?

I can rotate tires faster than you can boot up your computer, and unless you work in a NASCAR or F1 pit, it doesn't mean squat.

Shut up about how clean and talented you are, and teach us something USEFUL, not bragging about how well you do something, eh, newbie?

hondas r like the easiest to change oil on. i work part time at a tune up/lube shop.i get happy when hondas roll in.so simple..the stupidest filters r on german cars. go buy some filter pliers or a band wrench and just do it..its too easy..drain plug 17mm socket. and u guys have to the luxury at home of waitin til its cold. i dont..lol

I agree with F=WT, I never get dirty changing my oil. I love the way the oil from the filter drains down the little groove deal next to the drain plug. I don't think having a hose extention thing would make anything any better. And why do you guys all hate fram so much? It seems like they have decent filters. They have to be better than a paper filter at least. I know Fram,K&N,Moble 1 are synthetic fiber but what else-what do you guys run?

You shouldn't wait till it's cold anyways. The oil gets thicker, and doesn't all drain if it's not warm or hot.

I run PureONE PL24458 filters. Yes, I know the book calls for a 'teacup' PL14459, but I like to super-size mine, thank you very much! Here's the 'oversized' PL24458 sitting next to a OEM-style PL14459:

And, before you ask, yes, it fits just fine!

Frams suck!!!!

I use Wix oil filters. Have you ever seen the inside of the fram oil filter? theres like only 8 folds i think, not sure, but the wix has double folds of Fram. Only thing i like about fram is that sure grip thing, but most of the time its not even hard to get the oil filter off anyways if you tightened it by hand.

Do you actually work for Fram or something? you posted this on every board I visit (and that's alot) and you only have a few posts at each board.

Thanks for lettin' me know. I haven't seen it at Wally world yet, but I'll probably pick it up next time I go. Changing oil is easy on our Honda but if this thing makes it just a little easier then I'm all for it. from the pictures posted it doesn't look like it hangs "inches" from the oil pan (w/o the drain hose) so I'll take my risks on relatively smooth Arizona highways. But I understand other's concern for unnecessary risk.
