Default Worn out clutch or worse?? help!

ive tried searching but couldn't narrow it down to a final answer...here is my problem

i changed my slave cylinder on my 97 prelude a few months ago...everything was going fine...then everytime it would get warm the clutch would sorta slip and or grind when releasing in first...then through other gears it was fine.

then last week im on the highway im in fifth at 3k rpm...when i just press a litte hard on the gas to pass a truck and my rpm starts reving up...so i think...dam my clutch is slipping...

i leave my buddies a little later that night...can barelly move the car out of first...i make it up to 5th gear...but then car slowly dies out...and fith became more and more like neutral...finally car dies out....( i mean i couldnt move it no more but car was still idling fine)

it gets into every gear fine, but even in gear with clutch released the car dosent want to move...although when pushing the car it was alot easier to get it to move when in gear that if actually in neutral....the speedo would NOT move....

so im wondering if its simply my clutch gone bad....or is it somehting else in the tranny/diff area???

i though even with no clutch i could get the car in gear and drive it...???
like starting the car in 1st and bumping it...it seems like my clutch isint dissengaging or something...anyway thanks for your help

With out a functional clutch you will know by the car over reving and you not moving.

Sounds like a bad clutch

sounds definitely like worn out clutch disc, or possibly an issue with the pressure plate.

Either way. That tranny is going to have to come off.

OP are you doing the work or are you paying someone?

ok great thanks, yes for the tranny i know i have to take it off no matter what!
i really dont have time to do it...so my friend is going to do it for me...but i just had the silly impression that it would be possible to move the car even if the clutch disc is finished...guess i was wrong...and happy to know that its probably only the clutch or pressure plate, because if it was the diff or tranny i would be pissed lol
thanks ill keep you guys posted on the outcome when it gets taken appart
