Recently got an EK, need some help.
Hello all, I'm back in the Honda game after being absent for a few years. Toyed with a Mustang and a DSM, now I'm back for gas mileage and reliability. Anyways, picked up a bone stock 96' Civic Coupe DX. Needs some love but mechanically it seems like it's in great shape. Anyways I've got a list of questions. Now I've tried searching, but the search feature here absolutely blows. (Something the staff could learn from DSMTuners
) Anyways, I'll just get a list going here.
1) The windows are messed up. The driver's side rolls up and down, but when it gets almost all the way up, it starts to get harder to pull up and it sounds like it skips and makes a bunch of clanking noise. From reading around here, the gears could be stripped out. Is there a part I can order off eBay or from Autozone or something? The passenger window bumps off track. I think the gears are fine, but it seems like the regulator is bent. Again, can I order a new one fairly reasonable? I've been hitting the junkyards every week and all there ever is are EGs. Will EG window parts possibly work on an EK? I'm thinking about converting to power windows/locks, how difficult is this?
2) I want a new cluster with a tach. I can get an LS tach off my friend, how hard is it to modify and will it fit in an EK? I don't want it looking like ****. Also, I have an 02' RSX cluster, is there any way I could fit that in?
3) How hard is it to fit a DC2 dash in an EK? I want to convert the interior to black. I've heard talks of this being possible. I've never taken out a whole dash though. Would I use the DC2 climate control?
4) Where can I find the OEM tail lights that have clear corners instead of amber?
5) Will a DC2 steering wheel fit and have operational SRS?
6) What exactly do I need to do to put cruise control on my car? Will cruise control parts from a DC2 work?
7) Which rear seats will work? How do I get an armrest center console? Will one out of a DC2 work?
8) I'm interested in a mini-me swap. Basically, all I need is a Y8 head, P2E ECU and to wire Vtec?
Last but not least, are there any parts that interchange with an EG?

as far as the windows go, the gear sounds stripped. and the gear is part of the regulator as a whole. if you can't find one in the junk yard, a new one from the dealer isn't terribly expensive. that's the only place i know of to get them. your better off going with new ones any how. and keep all the rubber window tracks lubed often with silicone spray. once a month per say. spray and wipe them now and see if that doesn't help.
I put silicone on the passenger one, but the stripping is torn towards the bottom. Then I noticed the previous owner must have bent the regulator to hell because it being off track, sometimes wouldn't go up or down without force.
