Default transmission problem Code P1705

I have a 97 Accord SE A/T with 140k. The shifter light in the dash blinks on D4 and the Check Engine light is on (like a TCM prob). The Honda Dealer told me it reads a Code P1705. Thay said it is a "shifter gear sensor" that is in the dash. Any help on whether I need a Trandmission Control Module or a gear sensor is appreciated.

The Honda told me I needed a shifter gear sensor to fix my code and shifting problem. Needless to say, that did not work. Anyone have an idea about this code. It acts just like the TCM problem I had on a 1992 Accord EX, but the dealer insisted that was not the problem.

no sensors in the dash for the trans, the gear selector switches are in the gear selector on the shift console.

check the electrical connectors on the transmission........
