Default Accord bodystyle designations/variations

I am under the impression that the 5th gen Accord is called CD5. But I've also heard it called CD6, CD7 and CD9. What's the actual model designation for the 5th gen accord. Does it vary by bodystyle? Or by pre/post-facelift interations?

I have a '96 EX wagon. What is my car?

Also, a question about the motor: I know the F22 came out in '89/'90 with 125 HP and 130HP in the EX due to a different downpipe. Then in '91/'92, it gained 10 additional HP because of a variable intake.

Did they do away with the variable intake in with the '93/'94 redesign? Is the additional 15 hp in my car's motor only due to the VTEC?

Finally, I know that Accords from '90 to '97 are very similar mechanically. What were the major improvements made for '94? All I know is that there are 3 extra inches in width, allowing for additional structural bracing under the powertrain, a revised power steering system and reprogrammed auto tranmission mapping.

Anyone know of anything else? I used to be a Honda fanatic but that ended until I bought this car last September. I want to know all I can. Honda wizards, indulge me in your knowledge.

Haha,

I'll be nice because I got called a wizard

1) The "CD" refers to the chassis code in the VIN, I believe it's the 3rd-5th digits. CB was the 90-93, CG is the 98-02. This is the same for all the generations it's not based on the mid-chassis facelift.

CD5 = USDM Sedan
CD7 = USDM Coupe
CD6 = JDM Sedan
CD9 = JDM Coupe (don't quote me on this one!)
CE1 = USDM Wagon (it's a number but I'm 95% sure it's a 1)

2)
You have a CE1.

3)
F22A# = 90-93
F22B# = 94-97
F23x# = 98-02 (not sure on the letter or if it has one)

4)
Not really entirely sure what all the power differences are from save for the F22B1 (VTEC, EX) and the F22B2 (Non-Vtec, LX/DX).

5)
Some off the top of my head
- chassis redesign
- larger overall space
- F22A > F22B

Not sure on this either I'm mostly a 94-97 guru

6)
Read the Accord FAQ and just look through the guides listed.

CD is the 4th and 5th digits... after that you may have CD4, CD5, CD6, CD7, CD8, CD9.... CE1...
