i was just driving my car yesterday 88 crx si stock motor and all else. It was running perfectly fine and i went outside to start my car and it cranks but does not start any ideas please

 

check the main relay and the igniter

 

Try this test: Pull a spark plug and wire from the engine, take the cap off you distributer, and put the end of the spark plug wire into the coil tower. Ground the plug out on a body ground and then crank to see if you have spark in the plug you can see.

If yes, then look into the fuel system, pumps, injector, etc - try smelling the exhaust after cranking - if you smell unburned gas the fuel system is working fine.

If no spark, disconnect the computer signal wire from the igniter chip (its one of the three pins on top, and the one farthest from the single side pin). No with the plug still conected to the coil tower and grounded out where you can see it, put the key in and turn it to the run position (last one before start). Now, tap the signal wire against its matching pin - if you get spark, then the coil and igniter chip are working fine and you have a problem with the signal going to the distributor. - this could be caused by the computer, the stator sensor in the distributor, or the wires going to and from said components
