Default Question: reversing rotation on b series engine???

First off ill start with im not sure were to post this (so if mods need to move it feel free)
its giong to be a drag car/play toy

i know back in the day, some racers convertered engine to run opposite direction (i only think i remember h series pro racers way back when)

does anyone have any information on this, or know anyone who has done it

this is just a thought of something i might try for experiment in a rwd chassis i want to build

things i know u would need to do, get custom cam grind to support the change in rotation, and put tension on belt from other side, (only 2 things i can think of at this second)

Any info would be great, please try not to bash, just in the THOUGHT PROCESS faze

My biggest problem is, i want to run a b series in the vehicle, and run an auto trans (g force makes a manual reverse rotation, not sure of any others)

so 2 processes is either change rotation of motor or find a reverse rotation auto trans
Im up to both ideas ANY IDEAS WELCOME

dan

s2000 engine would be a much better decision in my opinion, they can handle a good amount of power in stock form.

the time belt does not like to go the other way, so there might be a slight issue with that.

you would have to look at things like water pump and oil pump. But i would think that they would both be externaly run systems in a project like this.

The head is going to be your biggest issue.

A friend and I took a B18a and a d16a1 engine and turned the heads around. We figured it would be much better with carbs that the stacks face the front of the car, years before the K was introduced. But the "Ram Air" effect didnt really take effect until right around 100 mph. It was "Cool" but more work than it was worth.

I beleive the Cams will have to be a custom grind?

I know on V8 Boat motors alot of them spin backwards and the onlything different is the camshaft.

Sorry I just don't understand why you want to do this.

There were a bunch of Accords converted like that for the British Touring Car series.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
Built in England by MSD (Motorsport Developments), the factory Honda BTCC (British Touring Car) team.

Sold as a complete roller, minus drivetrain (engine, gearbox, axles, drivetrain support systems), shocks, and wiring harness. Car originally used a rotated mount head and sequential gearbox; sourcing those or fitting it with a newer Honda drivetrain are options, but both require serious Honda expertise. </TD></TR></TABLE>

cool idea, but i've never seen/heard of it before. GL on everything, but I'd probably just go F22/20.

thought about that already, its would change my costs around to much, and i already have all the b series stuff needed (thats why my first thought is with b series)

if not i ll have to change my complete thought process otherwise

GM hydamatic transmissions are reverse rotating. they are also known to handle some big hp numbers, and they're automatic.... just a thought....
