not a honda and has a domestic V8 *BAN*
so after haggling for a year or so with the idea of buying a boat i finally got the wife to agree. we pulled the trigger late in june from a dealer that was having one of their normal "store stock" boats going into production roughly a week after we put our down payment on it. it was supposed to start 7/7 but i think it started about 5 days late. anyways, heres the goods.
these were sent to me tuesday. should be about 2 days worth of work at this point.

its getting a 383 in it. a standard boat my size would normally come with a 350. i was going to go with the 6L because its got more HP than the 350. the problem with the 6L is that the torque curve of the 6L almost matches exactly to that 350 so really what your gaining is 2-3mph in the top end and burning more gas.
i ended up with the 383 because it has the best of both worlds. even though it s got less hp than the 6L its peak torque comes at 3-4500 which is right at normal cruising speeds. plus the 383 is like a factory "built" motor. its not a HP machine right out of the hole but it could handle 1000hp if modified to do so. still will burn alot of gas but not as much as a big block and weighs less than a big block.

also i should add that ive driven a 6L boat and they do fine. when you look at a dyno graph of a 6L VS a 350 the 350 actually should be the better motor. up until the upper RPM (5k and above) the 350 has more HP and TQ. however ive also driven a couple 350 powered boats and the 350s are definitely more sluggish. this is something i cant understand because the 350 up until those limits has more of everything. in all those boats ive driven all had the same pump also.
the 383 stomps both the 350 and 6L. it has anywhere from as little as 20hp to as much as 45hp over the 350 or 6L at different RPM intervals. it has as much as 50ft lbs over either of the other motors though. its definitely the best choice. almost has big block torque but in a package that weighs less.
i also have the option to supercharge it or even build an aluminum shortblock for it down the road. that will drop about 100lbs off the back end.

its a custom weld storm 21'. while im still able bodied it will be primarily used for tow sports, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, tubing etc. it should be able to do it all though. shallow water in hells canyon running the rapids. smooth water in the columbia and snake river. i can fish off it pretty much do whatever. i like how custom weld puts it on their website, "the premier sport utility boat". they can do it all.

i think this has to be a first seeing a boat...but it looks good. was there any options on import motors to use?
i was just getting ready to post up 7 new pictures from today.
in the bigger boats the options are pretty much V8s. however they have a mercury sport jet that is a 2 stroke option. most dont use it however though.
anything above a 19' boat though they put primarily V8s in. boats need torque more than anything to keep them moving.
they have a yanmar diesel that goes into these things but usually 24' and longer because boats that size weigh 5000lbs and above.
these are heavy guage aluminum boats that are made to take a beating in shallow water, hitting rocks etc.

wow! That is REALLY cool how they send you pics of the build. Man, that is great customer service for someone who is waiting. It gives you peace of mind to know what is going on with it.
for a great company for doing that!

i get pics at random but usually pretty equivalent to every other work day. i actually called the guy (doug) at the factory to thank him for all his help and guidance along with the others help regarding opinions on certain aspects of the boat before purchase.
i told him to thank jason (the guy sending me the pics) even though i do it in every reply to his pictures he sends me. besides the pictures which i requested the company that builds this boat is known for having great after the sale customer service and thats another huge reason why i chose them. in the end their price destroyed all boats in their price range and even though its an extremely expensive purchase they still beat the competition by leaps and bounds. i got a smoking deal on this boat even though most people **** when i tell them how much it was.

LOL didnt **** myself. i know how much a quality boat cost. you have 20-30K just in motor/jet alone and your buying a boat that will outlast any fiberglass by a longshot. **** the boat I want is 60K used
