My first Honda
Hi friends,
I just grabbed my first Honda ever,I bought a 07 Civic EX......all I can say is WOW. I went to the dealer 5 minutes before they closed<it just worked out that way> There was a salesman who had been there 12 hours who hadn't sold a car all day.He was helpful as all car guys are that haven't sold a car that day.The wife and I looked at cars for about 15 minutes......when he sat us in the "Cockpit" of our car,we were totally sold.We just totally loved the car.I cant believe they dropped the price 2 grand for us..I guess going in there that late helps.I have a couple of questions though....they sold it to us on empty...how many miles/gallons is in the car when the yellow gas light comes on?I'm also wondering about the extreme max mileage my friends have said I will get from this car....is 300k possible?...thanks for any replies

Welcome
You should be able to get 300k with ease, just maintain it well. The gas light is a problem, get some fuel in it before your fuel pump starts acting up, I know from experience. Always try to keep it above an 1/8.

Yeah, if your trying to get a good deal on a car going to the lot 5 mins before they close is great. The dealers don't really want to "upsale" you anything and are willing to drop the prices for you just so they can go home lol.
Congrats on your new car. I just got my first honda last month aswell. Of course its not as shiney as yours

Thanks for the replies,I had to go back on day 2 to get it detailed...they had to get all the stickers off of it.I was hoping they would fill it up...but it seems $10 in gas is all that they offer.I suppose I could of haggled over it seeing as I left a half tank full in the SUV gas guzzling monster I traded in
I am way stoked over the MPG.I went from dumping $85 a week for my commute down to $30 a week in the Civic.Seriously considering trading in our other car for an 08 Civic Si...

that's called regular maintenance. that comes with ANY car.

The transmission is definitely capable of reaching 300k miles, with regular maintenance. But to be honest, the cheap sheet metal that Honda uses on their cars will probably rot away before you get that far.

heh 300k is definatelly attainable. i sold my 89 integra with 278k on it the only thing i ever replaced on it other than water pump and timing chain was the damn fuel pump and when i went to the acura dealer they looked at me like i was crazy saying that the fuel pump went.. they supposedly ordered one like once a year.. that was 7 years ago.. the dude i sold it too works with my mom and uses it for his winter car and last time i talked to him he says the odometer stopped working at 348k.. my 93 civic i sold with 198k on it.. my 99 pontiac died at 92k.... i will never buy anything but honda at this point for a DD
