92 accord high idle in gear only
I have a 92 accord automatic wagon and have an issue with it high idling. If I put the car in drive/reverse and touch the gas it wants to stay at a high idle-not sure how high but it sure pulls through the brakes. If you put it in park the idle comes down asap to the corect idle.If you put it back in gear touch the gas it wants to stay idling at roughly 1500-2000 rpm. At first I thought IAC, then I thought broken throttle return spring but nope. Its really puzzling as it idles right back to normal when in park.Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Also its got an aftermarket intake tube and cone filter, not sure of the brand though.
That useto happen to me in my civic and what it was is the TPS (Throttle positioning sensor) But dont go bying a TPS yet cuz mine was would idle fine when i turn the car on but when i put it in gear it would drive fine then when i came to a complete stop it would continue idleing without me pressing the gas but if its not that i guarentee its something on the manifold (Pardon the grammer lol)
I currently have a similar problem with my 1996 Honda Accord LX. It starts up normally, but will rev to a high idle when I shift into reverse. Were you able to figure out and fix the high-idle problem with your 92 Accord? Please advise.
TPS is a hard sell. It will not change the angle of the throttle plate to elevate the RPM. And it returns to normal in park.
Look at the idle adjustment procedure and check if you missed anything.
Put a DVOM on the TPS, check that too.
2008? lets figure he got it.
