Default Pure zinc TIG rod

Where can I get some and how long will I have to live after welding with it?

I need to weld up a bunch of potmetal parts and the chrome place says thats really the best way to do it. They do it in house but I dont want to make jigs for all these parts and risk having them not fit correctly if they weld them for me. The rods they have are 18" long and 1/8" diameter with a flat down one side but they dont have enough to sell me any. Local welding places cant get it for me either.

I know its dangerous to weld and I'm trying to source a fresh air hood and a smoke eater.

I've only welded zinc a couple times, I dunno where to get the filler, but yeah, that **** is toxic, I felt sick after welding it and I was wearing a respirator.

i dunno if this would help... but try getting a hold of Bill Presby over at P.A.T.H.S. he teaches the welding courses over there. He seemed pretty experienced and knows a lot of people... just a thought.

pm'd u his email.

mmm ok thanks guys...I'm probably going to do some more research on sourcing the rods tomorrow. Any ideas on other uses it might be sold for? Maybe in thick wire form I could straighten out...I know they sell it as a solder but I get the impression it's around .040" or less.
