I know that the DC5R muffler has some sort of valve inside it, but I have not been able to find any information as to whether the 05-06 RSX has the same valve inside its muffler or not. If it does, then I can't see why people would pay so much for the DC5R muffler, other than the fact that its JDM...

Also, is there a difference in piping size between the 2 cars? jdmland.com says that the DC5R has larger piping than the RSX Type-S, but they are probably referring to the older RSX's and not the 05-06.

 

There is no valve that opens inside the 05-06 Type S muffler. Only the DC5R gets that.

B-pipe is identical between the 05-06 USDM Type S and the JDM DC5R.

 

Is there any way to tell the difference between the two visually? Or do they look exactly the same? I am sure that if they look visually the same there will be people selling Type-S mufflers as DC5R mufflers...

The inner diameter of the 05-06 Type-S and DC5R are both 54mm, but what about the outer diameter? Is it 60mm? I have a 60mm N1 B-pipe that I wanted to use and was just wondering if it would be a good match for an RSX muffler, I just don't know if it is 60mm inner or outer diamter? I would imagine that most aftermarket exhausts (the 60mm ones) are similar...but is that inner or outer...

Unless there are markings on the outside, physically I think they are pretty much identical.

I'm running a DC5R muffler and I couldn't tell the difference. To be honest, I seriously doubt there is much of a HP difference between the two.
