Default What is the best stock ECU tuning option?

I'm looking to get my car tuned, however I don't really want to mess with piggybacks and such. I also want to keep the stock ECU.

Which tuning software would be the best option?

what year is your prelude? what is done to it?

you wont be able to keep your stock ecu if you want to get any respectable tuning done. The only software you can use with the h22's stock ecu's is piggybacks such as emanage, VAFC....etc

check the faq, there is a thread there for ecu tuning.

It's an '01 5spd Base. I just have the basic I/H/E mods. Does the EManage have the ability to control timing as well as VTEC engagement, A/F ratio, etc? I might look into that...

You can get pretty far with a VAFC......it just depends.
We were able to tune my old setup pretty well with one but the new setup just needed timing tuning.
If you want to talk cheap and quick to tune....a used VAFC1 and a stock P13.

No need to swap out his current ECU. Especially one set up for 345cc injectors.

There isn't anything remotely consumer level if you want to keep your OEM ECU and no piggybacks. Except for VERY general FPR adjustments. You can't flash these things or anything.

Well....I have a chipped P13 form Katman that I ran in the old setup to get rid of the rev limiter and currently run it in my DD Prelude. I have also tried chipped P28s and P72s but always seemed to do the best with a P13. The stock P13 wouldve been just fine, but with the S2S1+VT I needed 8000rpms.
I would go out on a limb to say you can get damn close to 200whp on a stock ECU as I got to 196whp.
To add, we tuned my friends Turbo Lude@10psi~290whp with DSM440s VAFC+P13

Chipped P13 is not the same thing as a stock P13.

If you're going to swap OBD1 you might as well get something that can be tuned.

Boost with a AFC, yeah great idea

It worked just fine.....another great reply to "just-reply"
We couldve really cheaped out with Crome and spent hours trying to get it working.....

Is this pure rumor and total or are people in the process of allowing us to be capable of tuning the h23's p14 and h22's p13 using Hondata and other units/software?

I've heard it twice now, but they both were saying and I try to quote "the code has been able to be hacked and it was only a matter of time before they could work with it" (I can't honestly remember exactly what they both typed word for word, but I know for sure exactly what they where saying.)

Crome is not cheaping out compared to running **** injectors and guesswork fuel hacks.

I think tuning is way overrated sometimes (and don't listen to me, see the legions of people that show up out of the woodwork demonstrating how they ran 11s in their Honda with an ebay resistor in place of their IAT for tuning....and of course after sawzalling away most of the car), but one has to draw the line on "whats a remotely good idea" somewhere.

When you're in the situation below I think you've probably passed that line unless you're quite clever and have a few more tools besides just a cut MAP sensor wire.

x2

I just had my lude tuned yesterday on ectune with a chipped p28 for my dd
It runs smoother, a bit more torque, 4700 rpm vtec crossover (which is much smoother of a transition) and best of all...a kick *** 2-step haha
