im about to sell my 97 accord 6 disc cd changer and was trying to get the cable out from under the carpeting but it seems like its caught on something. do i have to remove the carpet in order to remove the cable? or should i just not worry about it and sell teh cd changer w/out the long cable? thanks
I would imagine it's clipped in in several places, it's really not difficult to pull up the carpeting along the side.
I wouldn't tug on it as you're likely to rip it. And the people would probably want the cable (i would at least) because it's difficult to source things like that for cars this old.

Here's the instructions on installing the cable through a '98 / '99 Accord:

Should be somewhat similar to how your cable was run. And yes, whoever buys your CD changer will need the cable. For that CD changer, which cost around $600 new, you had to spend another $85 for the mounting kit which inlcuded the cable as well as a metal bar to protect it in the trunk - the only way to get the cable was to fork out the $85 for the mount kit. Crazy. Personally, I just bought an Alpine CD changer for about $400, it came with the cable, then I built my own mount kit out of wood. Looks nice.
But before you sell it, how much is it really worth on ebay? I had checked out the prices of my CD changer (almost ten years old now), it's worth only $30 or so so I'm keeping it.
