Default Car Won't Start, um...

I took all the radiator fluid out, and then drove around for about 45 minutes to flush the rest out of the block. The temp. gauge went all the way up but I was told by a friend who owns a turbo hatchback that that is okay and to keep driving.

No the car won't start. I hear the starter trying to go, but it seems like the crank won't even turn. Ideas?

Huh? There is a bolt on the back of the block to drain the fluid out.

you drove around 45 minutes without coolant?? my guess is your engine overheated and all the internal pieces siezed together

all you had to do was remove the lower radiator hose to drain the rest of the fluid in the engine block

re-read this sentence again, but this time take out radiator fluid and substitute OIL for this word...would you do that? This doesn't make sense to me, why would you drive a car w/out fluids that it is INTENDED to have???

You didn't find this odd when your "friend" suggested this?
I'd be interested to see a picture of your seized engine...

I'm a bit confused. If you really did run your car with no coolant for 45 minutes, than I don't have anything to add.

I can't think why you not only wanted all the coolant out, But you wanted it DRIED OUT...WHY?
That pretty **** for a coolant change. and now....bloodly expensive.

Maybe I'll never understand.

stupid as it sounds, you may have an insurance claim for the damage under comprehensive.. They cover some types of owner induced damage as long as it wasn't done on purpose to damage the car.. ie they cover stupidity..
