Default NOPI CANCELLED- NDRA and NOPI NATIONALS

Didnt see this posted anywhere yet, just popped up on our local forum

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">July 16, 2008 It is with great regret that NOPI Motorsports, LLC has suspended operations for the summer and fall 2008. This will include NOPI Drag Racing Series, NOPI Drift Series and the NOPI NATIONALS Motorsports Supershow. The company is undergoing an organizational restructuring in light of severe adverse affects of a disappointing spring season. The economy and unfavorable weather resulted in underperformance of all spring events. Michael Meyers, president of NOPI Motorsports, reports that NOPI Motorsports is working with its clients and sponsors to minimize the uncertainty going forward. This is a reflection of the economic times in which we currently live. The countrywide economic and industry downturn has caused a slowdown and tightening of belts. This affects everyone and companies, at all levels, and NOPI Motorsports is no different.

We understand the position this puts everyone in and we hope you can find in your heart to work with us through this terrible time. All of you are our friends and we have felt for many years that we were all a big family.

NOPI Motorsports hates this more than anyone as the many years of hard work, tradition and an industry we helped to shape would come to this.

Please watch nopi.com for future announcements.</TD></TR></TABLE>

As a former manager for NOPI (5 years ago) i saw this coming , we all did. NOPI is run by a bunch of our of touch old men and former ricers that have no concept what the market wants. THey still think Greddy and HKS is what people want.

While im sad to see this happen, they did it to themselves. I dont wish bad fortune on anyone so lets help the "restructuring" will benefit the sport and undustry

So if they come back next year, will they be supported by the racers? or has the damage been done?

This is getting ridiculous, if its true its a huge blow if it isnt true they should start banning all these people making bull crap threads and posts saying "sources", "lil birdie", "heard" ect. Too many people including myself have time vacation time scheduled planned to make the rest of the events this year to have people flying off the handle spreading lies, if they are lies.

I used to run a nopi store, so i have contacts there. They told me this was REAL.

Whoever posted it on our local forum i have no idea who the screename is, but i was told it was someone from NOPI.

Also, i think its sad that Mike Meyers cant even be a man and let his people and the racers know what is going on. Its all being done through back channels.

SOrry guys

HELL this was posted on their website a month ago

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">ATLANTA, Georgia – June 12, 2008 – Effective immediately, NOPI Motorsports is forced to cancel two upcoming NOPI Events located in Colorado (Drag Race and Car Show) previously set for June 21st and 22nd as well as the Utah event (Drag Race, Drift and Car Show) previously set for July 18th and 19th of 2008. NOPI Motorsports has faced extreme weather at their past 8 events, which has affected NOPI events in a great way. Each event the NOPI staff has pushed through these adversities to accommodate all of its sponsors, racers and fans in the best way possible given the circumstances. Many times events have been postponed and made up at a future event due to weather shutting down tracks and making it unsafe to run on.

This unfortunate turn of events has placed a major financial burden on NOPI Motorsports, which already faces an extremely challenging economy. With fuel costs at a record high, people are watching all of their extracurricular activities, and taking a chance at attending an event that would possibly be affected by weather plays a negative roll. “We have been running top notch events for years now,” said Michael Meyers, President of NOPI Motorsports. “I have never been faced with anything like this. We are having incredible support from racers and fans this year, in fact some of the best action we’ve ever seen has taken place here in 2008. There was no way to forecast any of this. We are working through all of it to see how we can make these events up. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to everyone. This is a major setback for NOPI Motorsports and new territory for all of us.”

Makeup events have not been announced for the two cancelled events located in Colorado and Utah. The NOPI Motorsports staff is working on the possibility of makeup rounds, as well as determining points towards the 2008 championships. Each of these issues will be addressed here shortly.

No ****, nobody should be surprised by this. Well, maybe speedreamz. lol

Seriously, this doesn't need to turn into a 50 page thread with "that sucks" and "what are we gonna do", you all should have had plenty of time to come to the reality that this was happening.

Instead of whining about it lets look at the bright side, next year Battle should be the only National series. All the pros will race there and the events will be bigger and classes more full than ever before. We are too small to be split between two national series, this is the best thing that can happen to the series.

I will say this, it says alot about the character of NOPI to leave things like this unannounced and never man up and explain to your consumers what's going on. People are way more understanding when they have an explanation than when they're left in the dark.

Had NOPI announced this and said they were going to regroup and come out strong next year with a new game plan, before any races were canceled, there might have been a small hope in them succeeding next year. Now, even if they wanted to, they couldn't. They've screwed all their customers, nobody will support them in the future.

Bummer, Someone should call VMP because the manager there says the event is still on, didnt sound too happy about the possibility of it be canceled either.

for the tracks which are being burned, it makes it difficult to accept sc outside events in the future. it doesn't just let the racers down today, but ongoing as well. it seems boti and ifo have pretty good reports with the larger tracks. so hopefully they won't be burnt come next season.
