One of my boys called me and asked is he could swap is single cam non vtec head with a vtec head and use a vtec controler to make vtec work??? Never herd that. Doesn't he need to get a vtec wire harness and ecu?

 

yes he will want a harness with the input on it for the vtec sensor. he however still can use a vtec controller i believe if he feels necessary. but really its not necessary. he'd be better off letting the stock ecu for the head he's installing control when vtec kicks on.

assuming he has an EF, he'll need a obd0-0bd1 vtec conversion harness and a p28 or p06 ecu.

Will a d series vtec run fine with a non vtec harness and computer beside having no vtec?

 

You could run it on the stock ecu but i wouldnt recommend it. if your curious will it like cause your engine to blow up, no it wont.

 

for the money to spend and buy a v-tec controller or RPM activation switch u could get a ecu for a single cam v-tec and create and or buy a v-tec subharness.
