Does anybody keep back issues of their magazines?
Like the title says, I'm looking for somebody with a decent library of back issues.... A few years back, Sport compact car did an article where they built a cheap DIY turbo system on a 2nd gen CRX. I think that they spent like $300 and netted about 85 hp total when all was said and done.
If memory serves, the article was from around the year 2000 give or take a year or two.
I'm trying to find a copy of that article. SCC told me that they don't archive magazines that old and that I was on my own. If you've got a copy of the article, or at least can tell me the date and issue number it would sure help me out.
Thanks everybody.

Good luck on finding the article.
Have you checked out http://www.homemadeturbo.com yet? They do nothing but budget builds on there.

Thanks for the response...
What magazine and issue was it? I have to admit that I have a mind like a rusty trap when it comes to remembering dates and names so I could be wrong about it being an SCC article.
Also, do you have a scanner? Maybe you could scan it and email it to me if it isn't too much trouble?

That sounds like the one. I remember the orange CRX. I guess I was wrong on the magazine it was in. What was the date/issue that the article was in?
As I recall, they made an adapter in-house out of a chunk of 1" plate steel and used a different exhaust manifold from another car as well right?

Good issue!
I'll have to see if the local newsstands have that one. Pickings are pretty slim in my area when it comes to special interest magazines....

It was indeed a detailed build, but, a bit pricey for all the parts. And I believe that was not including their own labor?

Ok I found it. It was Honda Tuning April 2003. I guess I would need your e-mail to get it to you...PM me with it and I'll scan it up for you tomorrow, after I finish maskin my hatch for primer
This is going to sound like a dumb question, but what stores do you guys usually find project car at? It's not at my local grocery store, and I just don't have the time to canvas every newsstand in town looking for it. I'm going to try Hastings this afternoon (they have the best selection of magazines in my little town), but if it's not there I'm going to have to rely on you guys to lead me to magazine gold.....
Borders Books has a good selection of car magazines.
Try calling around to local bookstores and see who has magazines.
I personally like project car, it focuses a lot on nissans but they always do budget stuff. Looking at 50k dumped into a skyline month after month gets old, imho.

id say project car exagerates on the price, i did my junkyard set up for cheapr, not even $500... 40 on a saab turbo, 20 on a mitsu interco0ler, got the missing link for 20. Only thing i wasted more was on the custom piping. And the only turbo build on scc was on a red eg civic coupe.
Thanks guys.
I've been hauling gravel for my driveway lately, and haven't had a chance to check yet but I appreciate the tips. There's no borders in Flagstaff, but I'll be in Phoenix over the weekend and if Hastings doesn't have it, I'll check while I'm down there.
