Default cv boot questions

Whenever I back up out of my driveway I get a clunking sound coming from the back of my car. People have told me it is probably a bad cv or axle. I might be wrong but aren't the cv boots only on the front and not in the rear?? Can a bad cv up front cause the clunking sound in the rear??

hmm I never thought about the shock, it does come from both sides but the sound mostly comes from the rear passenger side and that shock is in bad shape, although they all are, that one is worse....it's not when I'm pulling out of the garage just when I go down the curb into the road. I get the same sound with other bumps, but it seems to be more noticeable when I'm backing out into the road.
