My R is probably going to be on sale soon... but what price?
Guys,
I never thought this would be the case: I am selling my cars.
Regardign the type R, I really don@t know how to price it. It has a lot of goodies on it. Pls give me some suggestions. The reason I am selling is being relocated to Japan. I can ship it there, but I prefer to have a 4 dr car knowing that I will be able to have one car only. This is what is on the car+
1997 ITR #077
53K miles
CW perfect condition
Endyn P/P head with Rollerwave Pistons (12.0:1) Endyn built.
Toda B valve train with Ti retainers, Toda cam gears, Toda valve springs. Last Dynoed SAE corrected 199 hp. (done at 50K miles, so the new valve train and motor has less than 3 K miles)
Controlled with Buddy club Racing spec Unit.
RC 310 cc injectors
AEM fuel pressure regulator
STR fuel rail
NGK spark plug cable with Iridium 7 plugs
Mugen 4-1 jdm header
Spoon Cat
Mugen Twin Loop exhaust
Mugen Oil pan baffle
Jun Ultralight flywheel
JDM 4.787 Final Drive
JDM red recaro (in very good condition)
Tein RS coilover (14K / 8K) - 400 miles
Skunk 2 Front camber adjustment arm (set to -2 degrees)
Mugen rear strut bar
Integral Oil temp, exhaust temp and water temp digital guages (the same ones used in Best Motoring, bought them when I was in Tokyo last year)
2 sets of MoMo 6 pt. 3inch racing harness
Kirk Racing 6 pt roll cage
I can:t think of any more right now, but I am sure I am missig some parts.... but what price do you guys think I can get?
Selling all the parts separately may take me too long....
Much appreciated.

I guess *stock* car doesn:t mean too much nowadays while people can always switch parts back to oem. I have even seen a nitrous car sold as *stock* after taking out the cans and hoses. regardless... I still have some time to think.. thanks
Guessing....
I would say take the value of the car stock, and add 1/3 to 1/2 to cost of all the goodies you have in it.
For example, if your car stock is worth $19,000 and you have a $3000 in engine mods, ask around $20 - $20,500

that:s the problem. with that formula taken into calculation, it:s still going to be at least 30K.. then who will buy it right?? perhaps I should part out the items then...

You can put as many hammers as you like, but that is the reality of selling a modified car. People never seem to get this.

I dont understand how people can say that modifications dont add value.
If someone is looking to do the same thing to an ITR, and was planning on buying one for arond $18k, and can score his for $19.5k...wouldnt it make sense to do so?
The car is WORTH whatever someone will pay for it...

Do the opposite of what jond said...Take the stock value of a '97 R with those miles, then subtract about half the cost of the mods or 2/3 the cost of the mods and thats a good price to get for the car. Thats just the sad truth unless you happen to find a buyer that wants a modified car and understands the time/money/effort you put into the car and doesn't mind the risks of a modded car.(I'm not saying it's not reliable etc. just pointing out that it's not necessarily as reliable as a similar stock car)

Part the car out and put it back to as close as stock as you can get it. You'll be surprised at how much $$ you'll get for the parts and it will make the R more valuable in a close to stock configuration. However, with all the internal engine work, you'll have a tough time doing that.
Maybe you'd want to hold out for a buyer that's looking for everything done already, but how many people would spend 30K for an R up front? Something to think about.

that:s fine, send me an email jack.tong@attbi.com I will be back in the US in sept.
if time permits, I will part out the car and put the stock parts backin. I do understand most people would rather mod the car themselves than buying a modded one... so that was my dilemma to start out with.... sell the car as stock or with parts...
oh well.. I probably won:t make the same mistake again in my next car to come (hopefully an aristo or evo 8 in tokyo).
