Default My 5 Speed, LS/VTEC Conversion Build, Lots of Pics!

NEW PICS 2/11/09

This thread is put together to show the process of basically stripping one car and building another.

This thread will show a lot of pictures of different parts, cars, and after different processes. The process may go on for a while, I am on a limited schedule, limited budget. Target finish date is by next spring or sooner.

-------------------------------------------------------------

5 Speed Donor Car

Before

Current

93 Integra 5 Speed LS, 120K, black interior – this car has twice “R” titled, and started to rust underneath, so it was time to get rid of the car and take it to the yard. It was actually my wifes car she had since ’99.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And convert another car to 5 speed, ls/vtec & a lot more

92 Integra Automatic, LS, 138K, tan interior, purchased the car for $300 with a broken timing belt, fixed it, wife drove it as is for 3+ years everyday. Little bit of rust around the rear ¼’s, but that won’t be a problem.

Looking to build a possible weekend track car, but still a street drivable car. Nothing real serious, just something to have fun in. I am trying to use all the parts I can off the “donor” car.

--------------------------------------

PARTS

Donor Engine/5 Speed Trans (also have the pedals and everything else for 5 spd coversion)

5 Speed Axles, Sprint 2.5in lowering springs, KYB struts, sprint front camber kit

Complete B16 head being disassembled for some aftermarket goodness, shaved and paint valve cover when I was bored

Replacement hood

WW RS Front lip

Pulling the harness in donor

Thanks for my boy Postman for all the assitance

So I have been really bad at putting updates up and taking pictures. I've found out my wife is pregnant, she's been keeping me pretty busy, haven't had alot of time.

The donor engine has been completely stripped. Block has been, cleaned, sanded/suffed, primered, painted, cleared, honed and starting to put together the block as we speak. I am taking everything else apart and painting it the same way.

--------------------------

New parts list

Rywire LS/Vtec Sub Harness
Oil Filter Adapter Plate
P30 B16 Pistons
Golden Eagle Dowel Rods
Golden Eagle Head Studs
APR Rod Bolts
Bearing Set
GSR Oil and Water Pump

--------------------------

Current Form

Hopefully by next weekend the crank and pistons will be re-installed, then to start working on the head again. Currently going through and double checking the clearances and piston ring gaps.

Bearings/Pistons/Crank are installed. I forgot to order a bottom end gasket kit, so now I have to wait for that to arrive to have the block completely done. I will snap some new pics of the block when I get home.

I've also ordered all the fittings and oil line over the weekend.

I've been working 10-12 hours on saturdays for the past month or so. Thats slowed down the weekly progress since that was my "work on car day".

Cleaned the transmission really well, removed what I needed to, scuffed, painted and cleared.

The bottom end is done, all new gaskets installed. Now ready to focus on the head, I will be dropping it off at the machine shop for cleaning and milling tomorrow or wed.

also refinished the non-abs booster and master cylinder that I will be using, the fluid cup was taken apart and scrubbed.

head with VC

head without V/C

intake manifold, throttle body, and polished OEM fuel rail

What each piece looks like before putting it back together, all pieces are cleaned out and all seals/gaskets are being replaced

Next, I need to order a timing belt, .045 head gasket (head was milled), and lots of other misc things. Can anyone make a suggestion on ECU setup??

Buy my parts in my FS thread so I can get this done by March, LOL!

1. It was my girls (now wife) car, she picked the parts, I did the work, I never liked it. Thats the reason that its parted out now. Its been sitting for years.

2. Just because someone has a riced out car doesn't mean they have no ability to build a car. I have been working on Honda's specifically since 1995 when I was 15 years old (and have owned numerous DA's, accords, civics). You have no idea how much work I have done, or my skills. I do EVERYTHING myself and with my best friend which is a honda tech. Sorry if my cars aren't designed by your cookie cutter style.

My suggestion to you is to GTFO and find something else to do.

Seriously dude, go [freak]ing hang yourself with fishing line.

To the creator of the thread. Good job man way to bring one back from the dead by using it's parts on another. Keep up the good work.
