Default Just picked up tig welding today.

My hats off to the guys that do this stuff for a living...cuz it's not easy.

Here's me starting off with aluminum







by lunch time i laid these...



mild steel:





i need more practice i know, but here's was what i was able to accomplish by the end of the day....



sorry for the shitty pics, my camera was acting goofy.

critiquing is wanted...hints, tips, strategys welcome...remember, never done this before 8 am today so be gentle with the criticism lol

Holy Moly..... buy a wire brush... and some acetone... that aluminum is gonna need it!

ps ended up having to mig everything today...we ran out of aluminum and thin wall tubing so said f*** it and went back to mig. i'll try to do something tomorrow.

whos knows it prolly was...it was just junk that i picked up out of our scrap pile.

I know some of these guys can make awesome beads on anodized but I spent like days trying to learn on anodized Home Depot aluminum and it would just spark, pop, burn up , roll up and all sorts of **** and then I was told to buy some 6061 and it was just a LOT easier to learn on clean non coated metal. It really stressed me out dude lol

ya im gonna go get some SS and more aluminum tomorrow so i can practice a little bit more before i start on this header for a crx i'm building.
