i have checked the ignitor and the coil and both are good. i also tried a different distributor, still no fire. thinking it might be the main relay but not sure. PLEASE HELP!!!!

 

no fire as in no spark? maybe its your ignition switch. are you getting power going to the coil?

 

yes i am getting power to the coil but no spark. i was reading something about the main relay is supposed to click 3 times or did i just make that up. also is the light on the computer supposed to light up when you turn the ignition on, or does it only light up if there is a code?

The engine light does come up when you turn the key to the on position but (if everything is working right) will go away after a few seconds.

 

the engine light does not go off but there are no codes in the computer, atleast the light on the computer is not flashing to tell me there is a code. is there any truth to the main relay clicking three times.

 

I'm in the same boat. I have power to both the neg. and pos. sides of the coil. Replaced the coil and still nothing. I had the ign. control mod. checked twice at napa and it was good so they say. If I take the wires off of the coil I only have power to the + side iof the coil. I don't know. Does the ecu control anything when it comes to the dizzy??? I will post if I have any luck with it.

 

UPDATE ON MINE: I just went to the J/Y today and they had just sat a 90 rex that was crashed in the back. I pulled the ECU, Dizzy, And main relay. I replaced all of those things 1 at a time and nothing happened . It cranks over when I turn the key and has NO fire even with new dizzy. And the fuel pump doesnt prime or kick on. Some one said to change the ignition switch in the column.

ALSO: My ECU does not light up and I'm not sure either if it is supposed to.

 

Yeah, I just realized i am an idiot and have been trying to check the computer for codes without putting the jumper wire in. On yours you might try pulling the fuel pump out of the tank and run two jumper wires to your pump straight off of the battery to make sure it is even working. If your car is like mine the gas tank is so tiny, even if it is full, it can still be handled easily by yourself. It sounds like we might have two different problems, but I will still let you know what I figure out when I finally do figure something out.
