Which would be a better car for a all motor build up Rs or a Ls?
I am getting ready to buy my first car and my friend has a 1996 Gsr and i want to be able to keep up with him. I'm not too sure on what the better car to do a all motor build up so if u have any suggestions please tell me thanks. Also on my all motor build up what are some MUST have parts to make it a sweet car
Well honestly if you buy an LS or RS, i would say save up and buy a turbo kit. It is the best bang for the buck and you will smoke a lot of cars out there.
The LS and RS both have the same engine. The RS is lighter since it lacks some of the power options that the LS enjoys. Personally I would go RS over the LS and lighten the load even further. Either that or look for a GS-R.
naa dont even look for a gs-r. if uw ant allmtor get the rs. if want to just go fast, get the turbo. but beleive me ur wasting ur time going all motor with a ls motor.
I went all motor with my LS and i realize its not enough, thats why im getting a drag 3 kit.
hey DRAG lll INTEGRA how do you like your kit? did you change anything with your kit?

um....i know you know thats incorrect right...get a gsr for all motor man. all motor ls will take WAY too much time and money.
Get a Type R for all motor, GSR for all motor or turbo, and LS for turbo.
I would personally turbo a type r but i'm just like that

rs for all motor as it is less heveier. but its a aste of time to do all motor on ls motors. bet bet i turbo............
mrxmuffin i like the kit just fine, i havent chaned nothing on the kit. although i ma about to change to a in tank pump intad of using the air tex taht was probvided with the kit.
uhhh.... The LS and the RS are both B18B1, so I don't understand why one over the other would be preferred for all motor. If you are considering weight, a few mods would be able to cancel out a sun-roof or power windows in a heart beat.
If you want the most bang for your buck, get a GSR, they are great no matter which way you go. Turbo or N/A.
Turbo is going to be quick power, but you will have added considerations. Plus more things to maintain.
If you want something that can make pretty good HP numbers, and still be easier to maintain, get a JRSC. Or even a Vortech.
Just some ideas. Best piece of advice, think about what you are going to do before you do anything. If you say, ah I will get CAI and Header and Exhaust, and then decide to go turbo, you just wasted a lot of money.

i got a "RS" and its alot better to race it because its lighter than an LS. all motor LS's are not worth the buildup... better turbo'ing it or gettin a gsr or typeR for all motor.
If you want to go all motor crvtec. crv block with either b16 head or type r head. i say this because the r and the b16 head flow better than the gsr
rs=light but if your staying all motor you need vtec...
and btw a gsr or type r turbo car will destroy an ls/rs turbo car.

Are we going to get into the same old argument "vtec and boost dont go together"? Bottom line is, you can buy a stock LS or RS integra and a new turbo kit for about the same price that you could by a stock GSR., so for the money, I would go LS turbo, but if you can afford a gsr turbo, go for it, it will be faster!

_______
1998 GS
DRAG 3 EQUIPPED
13.9 @ 103"
I spent 2k and my LS runs the same time as your GS and mine does it all motor non-vtec. I must have wasted my time. *sigh* Vtec isnt the ****. It's all hype.

Maybe your LS runs the same as his GS because they are the same motor. GS is nothing more than the LS with more options, just like the LS is an RS with more options.
exactly, the whole rs vs. ls is the most useless comparasion I have ever seen. The *extra* options that the LS has does not make it that much slower than an rs. Please, maybe .01 in the quarter mile. They are both B18B engines. The one thing an RS has over the LS, is the possibility that it did not come with an A/C, that is it.
and abs
and a sunroof
and standard power locks
and sound deadedning.
hmm. pretty sufficient weight reduction there.
ON TOP of ac.
RS= "Really Skinny"
jay: whos integra is noisier than an ls

I have a RS and i am debating many issues as of now. I will be purchasing a Vtec head from http://www.importbuilders.com sometime in the future. Then, I will purchase there turbo block. Then, I will purchase a turbo kit.
The only thing i am debating on is weather or not to go with the block or the head first. If i get the block first, i can turbo closer in the future. AHHHHHHHHHHHH decisions suck.

If you want to go all motor (notice he didn't ask for FI recomendations
) go with the RS, the weight difference is a good thing.EDIT: To the list of things the RS doesn't have, cruise control

Yes, find a RS with no accessories if possible.
Get a B16 tranny with LSD (sell your LS/RS tranny to someone with turbo).
Get the usual intake, header, catback (or at least a straight thru or ITR muffler).
Buy some light wheels and really good tires.. the common Rota+Azenis is a good low buck combo.
Stay away from putting heavy **** in your car.. fat chicks, car audio, sunroof, etc.
