A better tire for the warm weather?
I love my Pilot Power 2ct's, but I just need to get to something that isn't going to overheat as quick. They come up to temp very nicely, and hold the heat well, my problem is once they overheat, they're toast for easily 30-45 minutes. With the weather here (100+ heat) it's pretty annoying to be stuck waiting for your tires to cool off.
Here's some pics I snapped with my Iphone yesterday while waiting for them to cool off...

I'm really thinking of going back to the super corsas...but I LOVE the handling of the PP's..

um... unless they're blueing they aren't overheating. You're not even ripping them up at all. I've ridden with pilot powers on the track before in 105 F and the track is much hotter then your canyon roads. Never had a problem. It's all in your head. Just get diablo corsa III's if you're concerned.

My buddy ran the Pilot Powers for an endurance day and did full tank to full tank no issues so don't give me that crap. Plus at the track you're doing session after session on a much hotter surface. 20 minutes on the track does more wear to the tire on any hot day in the canyon on a public road. You can ride in 2nd gear slowly around a track for 2 laps and when you get back in your tires will be partially shredded just due to the heat but nothing is wrong with them.
I know guys who ran DC III's in a 6 hour endurance race at Summit Point. Didn't even change the tires and they ran consistently fast times all day. It's in your head if you think you're "Overheating" them. If they were blueing I might agree with you but they aren't.

those tires look fine Graphite... i've personally ran regular pilot power in 113 temps in A/Race-Group (20-25 min sessions) with no problems, other then sliding around a bit.

I gotta ask but what front are you running?
Diablo Corsa III's are probably the best street/track tire I've ever seen and used. Very capable of running fast times in any Advanced trackday group and wear amazingly well. They heat up real fast too.

I have 2 sets of the old Dragon Supercorsa Pros (Greens). Are you talking about the supercorsa SP tire? http://www.pirellityre.com/web...P.xml
I ran my Dragon Supercorsa Pros once but started using my spare wheels with the DCIII's until I really needed the Supercorsas again. Probably get one more day out of the DC III's before I'll feel the need to go back to the hardcore tire and warmers
For what it's worth the Supercorsa Pro is one bad *****. Everyone I know absolutely loves them including me.

this is what i won.

the front is a Blue SC1 (Soft/Soft) the rear is a Green SC2 (Med/Soft).
this is gonna be my first time really riding on "race" tires, and riding Pirelli's at that. i've heard nothing but good things about Diablos but haven't heard much about Dragons.
what's turn in like? how many TD did you get out of them?
edit: i also picked up some Graves Tire Warmers, so i'm good to go.

I just realized that I've actually done 2 days on them so far and I could easily do 2 or more. I'm getting faster so wear is becoming more of an issue now. The tracks I'm going to be riding are new so it'll probably rip them to shreds so who knows what I'll really get out of them. I didn't run warmers the first time either. Second time I did. I have friends who are quite fast who can get about 4 or even 5 out of them (using warmers) though it's so dependent on the tracks and temperatures.
Everyone I know loves the supercorsa pros and their slicks. Very easy to setup and great grip. Turn in is good. I don't really notice a diff since the profile is the same as my DC III's. I don't have any friends who have used the Blue SC1 and have never heard anything about them tbh. Should be interesting to see how that wears. Everyone I knows uses the Greens. With the temps you guys have and running warmers they should be a blast. Only thing is now that it's been a few I can't remember the pressures to run. Something like 30f/29r hot as I run 31f/30r with the DCIII's hot. Anyways I think you'll love them. Noone I know that has ridden the pirelli has come away saying they suck. They typically get sucked in and start buying them from that point on. I know I did... No more michelins...

SCORE! thanks for the feedback, 'tis exactly what i wanted to hear.

i've always been a Michelin guy myself, so have my buddies. i was actually gonna buy some Pilot Race from STG, but i came across the auction on the Perellis and couldn't pass them up. can't wait to try these things out next month on the 3rd. i'll let you guys know what i thought of them.

They start sliding like crazy, and become VERY unpredictable....

they ARE bluing. Pics may not show it, but its definitly there, and I have more than one opinion that they are bluing. But I've been told this normal, and all part of the heat cycling, and to not worry. I really like the profile of the PP with the daytona, so I may look into Power race's as my next tire.

The front tire came on the bike, it's a Diablo (nothing else; plain ol' Diablo). I'm not sure how old it is. To be honest the rear tire has been pretty bald since I got the bike so I have never really flogged it, so I won't really have anything to compare the tire too. That and I'm a chicken on the street.
The main reason I got the Corsa III is I was told by a couple people not to mix-match brands (although a couple other people said it'd be fine)

id pick up another corsa III for the front if you ride twisties/canyons, if ur just commuting/cruising then its not a big deal.

That's what I was wondering about too. You can keep your tires from getting too hot by adjusting the pressure, but I really can't see any of the blue that Graphite is talking about.
Do tires that are 'too hot' make you ride into the opposite lane?

you'll LOVE the pirellis over the PR's or PP's.
Turn in is good, grip is good, the only complaint i have is that the tire carcass is pretty soft on the pirelli's, so under power at track out, the back end will squirm a little bit.
I'm still deciding whether i like Stones or Pirellis more, but since i get the stones for cheaper, that's what i roll.

Thank you for taking this thread even farther off topic. what does riding in the opposite lane have ANYTHING to do with this? I seriously need to start a list of my nut wingers, and put them in my signature, something along the lines of, "And here comes an unfunny, uninspiring, and mindless comment from: List here"...I think it'd better sum up the posts I get in response to mine.
I run 32/32 for right now, I didn't like the way the bike felt with them at anything higher.
