Default 91 Civic VT (B16a1) cut out suddenly, no code and won't restart

My 91 VT (B16a1) was outside the garage idling nicely for about 20 mins, then as I went to get in it, it cut out, caught again spluttered for about 3 secs and died.

Theres no ecu code, the fuel pump primes and cut out as normal, the main relay clicks, this was resoldered a year ago so is fine.

Theres 1/4 of a tank of fuel, after I tried restarting a few times it smelt like it was flooded so the fuels getting through. new fuel filter in january along with rotor arm, cambelt, dizzy cap and plugs.

I seem to recall when I put it away last time I noticed one instance when I pulled away it felt flat and all of a sudden picked up, just like a car with an old style distributer when its running overly retarded.

It was getting dark and I didnt have time to look at it.

Any ideas to give me an idea of where to start?

Cheers,
Stu
