Service/Maintenance
I bought a CR-V in January. So far the oil life is still 40%. Yesterday, I got a voice message from my dealer reminding me to schedule a service. I was kind of confused, since the manual suggested that I only need to follow the service reminder on the panel. Shall I schedule a service now?
Thanks,
John

X2. Dealer just want to make money. The oil service light will come on when it's 15%. Even that is not an accurate indication of true oil use. That reminder is based on computer calculations. Not actual wear and tear.
If you are good with maintance, I would follow the service manual on what to do.
If you are not good with service and maintance stuff, and have the $$$$$ to burn, then take it to the dealership, and they will take care of all your needs.

The calls are generated based on mileage averages just like the mailers and e-mails Honda sends out. If you put miles on the car faster or slower than average you will get the reminders out of sync with whatever you are actually due for.
It is even tougher to average now with the maintenance minder system since it varies from driver to driver so much.

you can run ur car between 4000-8000 before ur next recommended oil change every 3000 miles is not neccessary ,depending where u live ....i get an oli change every 5000 miles , 3mths or 3000miles is to short of a time ....just my opinion, others may feel different
