Default My car got impounded for not having vin plates in Stockton

I got pulled over by a dick cop name Hudson from stockton. First he pulled me over because my exhaust was too loud and i reved for him and it was fine. Than he asked me "do you have and illegal parts under the hood" and i said "no." So he asked me to pop my hood and he believe that my tranny was stolen and i told him its not because mines an obd1 which has a sticker and he thinks the vin plate was tampered or remove because he thinks there should be a vin plate. so he towed my car after searching the insides and doing a background check on me. He also gave me a fixing ticket for having my car to low at 21 inches instead of 22 he said, and no carb header. My car is now under investigation. The previous owner of my car said the parts on the car is all legit.

Anyone encounter this type of situation or problems. Any ideas or suggestion what i should do to get my car out of the impound asap. thanks

Update will be posted.

that guy is a ******* douche bag!!! I got pulled over and he did the same **** to me (except he didn't tow it)

he was like... anything illegal under the hood? I said no.. made me pop it anyways.. so i opened it.. then he told me get out and open it.. so i rolled my eye... did so and said... SEE, STOCK LIKE I TOLD YOU!! then dinged me for being "too low" .. "tinted windows"
funny part is, i didn't change a thing, got pulled over for suspicion of being too low and it was a different cop and he said I was right at the limit!!

I dont know what to tell you to do other than just accept the fact that he is the gayest cop in street

serve and protect my ***...

Ouch, i believe your screwed on the transmission part. I remember there was a HT member from SoCal that encountered the same problem and it didnt end too well. I too live in Stockton and worry about this all the time. I'm missing the sticker on my transmission also, but I have a sticker from my old d15 transmission that I keep in my wallet. I dont think those stickers trace back to anything, I just keep it just to show the LEO in case I ever have too.

all I can say is, after you get another cops opinion, and you prove your car is legit, you guys should file a complaint. obviously he doesn't know his **** and he needs proper training when pulling people over it seems like he is profiling.

file a complaint, and then get everyone else that has one against this officer to file as well...then do a civil suit for harrassment (as long as you guys are legal....)

same thing happen to a buddy of mines. he got pulled over and his tranny didn't have a vin plate. he bought the swap from a shop like that. Cops towed his car and impounded. they took his tranny out and made him pay for the labor and the impound fee. pretty messed up.

its discrimination to tuners...they don't do that when I drive my 39 Chevy around with expired tags and open exhaust.... BTW I'm originally from CA...lived there all my life...up in Sac for 11 years. I know how stupid those cops are. I left in 2004

thats hella [freak]ed up, you need to file a complaint against the cop, find out who the police chief is of his department and when you talk to them be polite but be a hard ***

OP should not be paying any tow/impound fee's for this bullshit

i dont know how you californians do it, but keep doin it

I may decide to file a lawsuit, going to talk to a lawyer. If anyone thats been pulled over by him has a legit complain may join in on it or if your going to get a lawyer let me know. I heard he first pulled over alot of mexicans and now switched to asians. I bet you his record of people pulled over is minorities! Thats gota say somethin.

i feel sorry for ya.. lucky fresno isn't like that or at least i haven't gotten harrass but i don't have a Fart Can so iono... turbocharge sohc vtec!!
but they are pulling import over here latley supposly for "to check for emissions"....

but next time that happen, get his full name, badge number and request for his sargent to come out there.... you can do this but him might get really made if you make him do that but his *** will get in trouble as long as you stock or have proff that you parts are legit... if you don't want to get the sargent out there, just make sure you get his badge number and take his *** to court!!!!

I hate that guy. He pulled me over yesterday and impounded my car. I guess if you pass another import on a stretch of road nowadays its called "street racing." I guess I'll just battle it out in court. Kgoner45, let me know how your case is going.

I need to prove as evidence that my transmission being OBD1 has a sticker and not a METAL VIN PLATE as the cop insisted and towed my car for. Does anyone know where I can get the information like websites, to prove and show the difference of OBD1 and OBD2
