Hello everybody. Names Dave, im 20 and live in NJ. Im a real car enthusiast. I have a few cars that most people dont care to much for, or that aren't viewed as special. But to me, are amazing! I have an 84 Mercedes 300D, 1986 solid axle toyota pickup with a turbo grand national motor on 8 inches of lift and 38s, 1990 miata 5 speed. soft/hardtop with 199K miles, runs awesome! Lastly but most deffinatley not least!! 2002 Jetta 1.8T stage two EIP setup, front mount, coil overs and BBS LM1s. I didn't list the mods on all the cars but now you know Im serious about my cars.

Ive been shopping for a new toy for a while. I drove the 350Z,RX8,G35C,new Miata, 2000 porsche boxter and the Honda S2k Needless to say, im in the market for a 2001-2004 S2K.(ide really like an 02 over the 01) Im very excited to get my hands on one. Great forums here, really learning a lot. As far as plans for the car? Nothing too special. Planning coilovers, new swaybars, wheels, and a few other small subtle appearance mods. Thanks for reading! a 14 second, 200whp car is a 14 second 200whp car. I fail to see how an s2000, which looks nearly the same as any other, is uglier than a newer MY.

they dont, personal opinions are yours for a reason...to each their own

if i was buying an s2000 looking to mod it, i would go with the ap1 due to it being cheaper. and everything that you say looks better (i.e. headlights, ugly bumper, whack dual exhaust rear bumper for a car that does not have dual exhaust for anything other than aesthetics, and thats it)

everything on that list, on my car, minus headlights, is upgraded. i personally dont like the look of the ap2 bumper or headlights, the headlights are too much for me

granted, i wil say that a stock ap2 is better as far as performance than an ap1... but dollar-for-dollar, id much rather have a modded ap1 over a stock ap2

it's the same [freak]ing car with different wheels and a SLIGHTLY different front and rear bumper.

<U>Same lines</U>, same interior, same transmission, very, VERY similar motors.
It's like saying a 2006 350z is better than a 2003 350z. The differences are so absolutely minor it's negligible.

I fail? Alright. Then I fail by failing to see the supposed massive differences between ap1's and ap2's.

It's guys like you that give s2000 owners a bad name. I owned a turbo 350z for a while, and even Z owners thought s2k owners were ********. You prove it.

 

^ um not really go read the sticky about the difference. plus u saying the tanny is the same is a lie and u dont know ur **** sure the case is the same and so are the moving parts but 1,2,3 gear ratios are shorter on the ap2

I go to 350z meet they have the biggest head. Its almost as bad as an SRT-4 owner. 350zs seemed to be owned by tools

Personallyi think AP1 looks better... Personally.
The AP2 hands down engine performance-wise is a better machine.

I only say this because a 9K rev limit is attainable safely on an AP2 and the extra .2L is a phenominal difference when put into a turbo S2K.

I'll be putting an AP2 rotating assembly into my motor here shortly.

well ive used the same screen name since i was like 15..SO i didn't change it. Not to mention, I dont really need something that screams "honda" as a name. I drive a lot of different cars, and belong to a lot of different forums. Do I need a name for the benz forums,toyota forums,miata forums, VW forums and honda forums? I didnt think so either. Thanks though.

*btw..the TACOMA has nothing to do with the toyota pickup. There are other thingsin the world that use the name Tacoma.

i wasn't gonna say anything until u posted this because its way out of line. i own an ap1 and even i will say that the AP2 is better stock for stock and the differences are pretty major. go look at the AP1 vs. AP2 thread.. how can you say two motors are the same? rofl thats ridiculous. who cares if you can rev it to 9k safely, when does the powerband drop off? thats the difference. and the tranny's gear ratios are different, thats pretty crucial wouldn't u agree? (otherwise why would people dump hundreds to thousands of dollars into gears right?) and not to mention the stronger rear diff housing? added reliability/limits is no different? damn dude use the search button. these differences are NOT negligible.
