Default 2002 D17 swap into CRX

Hey. Looking to do a SOHC VTEC swap into my CRX. I'm pretty familiar with most of the pre-2000 Honda engines, but I know nothing about this motor. A guy I know has one for sale, and I was wondering if it is as simple a swap as say a D15B or D16Z6. I realize it would be tougher since its OBD2. Would I be better off just to get my hands on something older, and more familiar to me. Thanks ahead of time.

Ima have to go with evan on this one.

There are a lot more sensors and electronic types things that aretn really in a crx. The swap would be more difficult and honestly not worth it. Just get a d series, save your brain and your money. Then turbo it hhahaha

i seem to recall that honda tuning did a build on the d17. they over hauled it and it was an all motor that put out around 170hp? someone correct me on this? but ya...they spent alot of time and money on it though.
not worth it. just get an older D series like a sohc zc, build it up and turbo it hehe....like what i'm trying to do with mine..if i ever get the money

i remember reading it.
they were using a D16a6block with D17a7 internals.
required lots of modifications to the a6 block.
the motor made 171hp / 129tq

Hey i looked at a d17 at my local junkyard and i could get it for about 150 plus the manual trans. If i was you i would get it do some thing diffrent it shouldn't be hard to just swap stuff around and drop it in. I know it doesnt have a dizzy but it has the place for it so just remove what there and bang. and use you old harness and obd0 and it should work.. Or you could run the coils. I would do it.. The trans will probably bolt up the d17 should be the same as the rest of the d16/15 even the valve covers are the same..

The D17 engine is the worst engine Honda has ever made. I would go with the older D engines instead of the D17.. Trust me, We carry these at our shop and sells a few everyday but it always comes back "defective".
