How much oil do you burn?
07 civic Si 26,xxx miles and she burns close to 4 quarts every 3000 miles. car use to have intake race header and exhaust but is back to stock. I dont drive it hard just alot of highway miles for work.... any help would be great.
go to your dealer n tell them your vehicle is consuming oil. They should print you out a consuming oil report, and they'll have you come back every few days to check on it. Your vehicle is still covered under manufacturers warrenty.
pgpbubble: he said his car is back to stock.
now thats a big problem. my car burned around a quart or so when i was breaking it in.
but it doesnt burn oil anymore and i have 11k miles.
but u still have warranty so i would go to the dealer. this is somethin u shouldnt put of.

A car this young driking that much oil is bad news. Do you see white smoke in your tail pipe? Maybe not. Sometimes engine will drinks it without any evidence. It could be pistion rings going bad. There is not much you can do short of a new engine.
1. Take it to a dealership and document the problem. They will top off and mark where the starting point is.
2. Drive it like normal.
3. They may ask you to come back after 800 miles to measure lost. If you loose 2 qrt or more than half on the dipstick, they should get you a new engine.
4. Compression test. If failed = new engine.
^^^^^ These are "not" Honda rules. I experience similar issue with oil lost and it was their plan. So I'm sure Honda have similar plans. If not, make the dealer play by some kind of rule so they can see there is a problem.

Thanks for all the help. We did notice under heavy acceleration the car looks like a turbo diesel dumping alot of black smoke for the exhaust. I made an appointment with Honda for tomorrow so will keep you guys posted. once again thanks for the help.
Well at least they will look deeper into the problem, sounds like a ring was installed incorrectly.
Good luck and not trying to make you feel worse but
My R18 doesn't burn any oil.
What was your method of break in?

white smoke NORMALLY indicates headgasket problems. white smoke shows that water is somehow getting into the combustion chamber and burning off.
and if the dipstick shows more than half gone then that means it's HALF a quart low....not 2 quarts. that measurement on the dipstick indicates 1 full quart.

Maybe that's true on a Honda engine. My oil lost problem was not a Honda. If it was, I would be very
because I expect more from Honda.

then word of advice....next time make sure you provide the correct information. a lot of young guys or guys period in this forum are very impressionable and would listen to every word you say.
your previous statement about the dipstick could have had someone filling up there car with a quart and a half more oil than it really needed.

You are right. I would hope people would read carefully that I was not talking about Honda. And that Honda would have similar type of guidelines or policy that dealers should follow. So the OP should expect some kind of plan offered to him.

unfortunately, that's typical for any manufacture. 2k per quart is still considered acceptable.

This is why I traded-in my 06 SE-R Spec V. Fully mod- Project done. I loved that car. It lost oil within the "acceptable" range according to Nissan. Even thou there was a recall and Nissan replaced many QR25DE engines, mine was "acceptable."
I should not need to add a qrt myself between oil changes, for a then brand new car. I had hope it was just a break in phase kind of thing. But it was not.
IMO, the engine was set to fail sometime later on. Perhaps after the engine warranty runs out? I cut my losses now instead of later for a peace of mind - even thou I really lost big in terms of $$$$.

You have to make note of your driving conditions. If it's burning a quart per 2k miles with little load and minimal rpm, it's a problem that needs to be fixed. ON the other hand, if you're driving the car HARD, you have to expect some oil consumption.

my 2001 civic dx "uses" about 1-2 quarts of oil in between changes (5000 km's) i've had it at the dealer, its not burning the oil, no blue smoke, theres no leak, and they told me not to worry about it thats its normal and some cars just use the oil.
my brother in law has been driving and working on honda's for the last 15 years and he to said its normal, he if its not leaking, and you cant notice it burning off then not to worry about it, he's driving a 2005 accord v6 and he said he uses roughly the same amount in between changes.
