Default Loud noise coming from shifter??

lately ive ben hearing grinding/rattling niose when i get on it hard...the noise will start at about 5k rpm and get louder/more violent up to redline...then it will go waway once i shift then it will come back once i near the redlne again..

it sounds like its coming from the shifter...but if i firmly hold the shifter it only helps a lil bit. also it started doing it when i put the front shifter bushing in..but i didnt put the back one in cuz i got it for free.

also it doesnt do it during normal driving..just pushing it..anyone have a similar problem??

Yup. the very end part of your linkage is thouching your pipes. Jack the car up, and put it on stands. Get under there with hacksaw and take off a little bit from the end of the linkage bar. There is about 2 inches of metal that is useless at the end of the bar and I dont see why you can't just cut it off.

Regards

I think the shifterbushings are worn-out. imho.

I am experiencing similair probs with my EE9... When rpm is around 4-5k I hear a ratling sound coming from the shifter (Loudest in 4th gear) ... when I hold my shifter its softens the noise... when I acellerate it stops...

Try to hold your shifter when you hear the noise or press your clutch... when it dies away... replace your shifter bushing...

Umm. 4th gear is when the linkage would hit the exhaust (in my car anyway). I have yet to cut off the end of it. Try like the other person said. Jack up the car and see if it is hitting.

Definately check to see if it is hitting the exaust, mine does that too since i just installed a Skunk 2 short shifter. it hits in reverse and 5th and 3rd.
