Default shop rebuilt oem d16y7. overheated and wont start..need advice.

i did an oem rebuild on my d16y7.................i wanted reliability, so, dont ask me why i did it.

well, originally i had the d16y7 on my 96 sedan rebuilt last month for $1600. brought it home on a 70 mile drive and the main crankshaft oil seal was leaking the same day, right when i pull it in the garage. took it back to the shop and two weeks later (which is today), they finished the oil seal and i picked it up. drove it back home and didnt even make it home. the car overheated and now it wont start.

any technical advice on what happened? going to bring it back to the engine shop this monday, but, wanted some technical info before approaching. as of right now, im assuming the new thermostat was stuck closed, the headgasket was screwed from the beggining, or the new water pump was fubar.

either way, i know the engine may be screwed as the heat may had jacked up the rebuild. less than 250 miles on the rebuild and now it is jacked up.

TIA for the feedback.

That sucks.

Is the engine coolant low? Can you see any coolant leaks?

Was there smoke in the exhaust?

Do you have spark and does the fuel pump prime?

You might want to inspect the timing belt.
