How do you remove the instrument cluster on a 2001 Accord?
My odometer backlight has failed and I need to replace it. Looking online, I see others claim that it is fairly easy to remove the instrument cluster to get at the odometer. I remove the two screws at the top of the black plastic trip surrounding the instrument cluster, but it really feels like something more than clip are securing it on the bottom. I'm worried that it will break if I try to force it.
What is the correct way to get at the instrument cluster?
Thanks.

A good point of refernce for a breakdown is a site called : http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
I could have screwed up adress so you might want to type it into google if it doesn't work at first. On this site you can go to the parts section and enter your vehical info. Then scroll through a list of parts for said vehical. Last I checked, each parts listing has a picture simaliar to what you would see on a dealers computer screen when they look stuff up. It even gives you the correct "market" term for the parts listed. Like I said these are just visual break downs, but as long as your mechanically inclined, they should prove to provide some useful insight.
Hope this helps

Stick your fingers (at the bottom) between the trim and the cluster, and pull. There are 2 clips there holding it in place. If the trim has never been removed, it'll be a bitch to get the clips to release. Once you get that out, there are 4 screws (2 top, 2 bottom) holding the cluster in.
Beware to anyone who tries this. You should wear gloves. I tried pulling the black plastic from just above the steering wheel and sliced into both of my thumbs
. The plastic i\s very sharp. The worst part is, I still could not get it to come off.

Pull the top out a little and then you can pull the bottom out. Remove the 3 screws that then hold the cluster. Slide it out a little and unplug the wires at the top. You may have to feel for the tab to release them. Reverse to install.
