I have a 92 Honda Civic that I use as my DD.. I'm having this issue where the car only likes to start every once in a while.. I thought it was the starter but I installed a new one and am still having the issue.. I think it might be in the ignition somewhere but i'm not sure.. Has anyone has a problem like this? I don't know where else to look.. Any suggestions?

 

is it a hot day, and u try to start 5 mins after u turn it off and all it does is crank

 

Yes.. It doesn't have to even be hot out though.. It was doing it this last winter as well..

 

check yur main relay

When you turn the key to ON without cranking the engine, you should hear the low humming sound of the fuel pump priming for a few seconds. If you don't, then definitely check/replace the main relay (see diagram).

If you hear the fuel pump prime, however, then check for spark at the plugs. If you don't have spark, then check the coil and then igniter unit in the distributor.
