So, ill be painting my car pretty soon, Like this week.
And i wanted to know if any of yall guys know of a short cut, or an easier way to remove the factory pinstripe.
any help would be appreciated, Thanks

 

Straight razor blade, just start at the end near the tail lights, get up under the strip and pull it up as you slide the blade behind it. Take your time so you dont gouge into the car. Thats how I took mine off my CRX.

My dads a body man just in case anyone wants to tell me that this is not a good way

they do make plastic razor blades for this, just my $.02

 

You can go to your local body supply house and get a "pinstripe remover". It's basically a rubber disc with an arbor. Chuck it up in your cordless drill. Use low speed and away you go. I've used the razor method several times over the years and have knicked paint on occasion. I have used the disc to remove vinyl graphics, pinstripes, bumper stickers and adhesive from emblems. Generally $10-$20.

 

When I was going to paint my civic I ran into the same problem. When I asked the paint store guy if he knew of any good ways to do this he told me the razor method and he told me about this spray on adhesive remover for pinstripes. $14 bought me the can and away I went. Long story short, the remover worked well but made stains in the paint where i had used it, along with residue that was extremely hard to remove.

Just my 2 cents.

 

if you are mechanically decent then the razor blade should work for you, but since you are asking for a shortcut then try a heatgun or a hair dryer or you can get an eraser wheel like guy up there was talkin bout....thats the easiest way...
