Default polished stainless or not?

i'm thinking of building a manifold using some polished pipe fittings and am looking for opinions. they look bling bling and probably moreso after welding, but then the collector and flanges on the manifold wouldn't be polished the same. i don't think it would look good as everything wouldn't be uniform. let me know your thoughts.

here are some comparison pics of the fittings.

heres a crazy idea...polish the collector and head flange prior to welding. just a though.

ron shearer plays around with some polished manifolds occasionally. they look amazing.

Just remember that if the flanges are steel and not ss to not use the same polishing wheels on the two different materials, all you polished ss will get a light surface rust on it when it gets near moisture.

Did you find a place that has L's pre polished?

It is a real pita, and after it is ran a while it looses it's slick shine pretty quick.

Did this one a long time ago

not polished.... polished ones remind me of the knock offs too much...

wire wheeling gets enough polishin done for me...

Completely agree.

Also completely agree. A quick wire-wheeling makes the difference between something that looks like a $1000 manifold and something that looks like a piece of under-sink plumbing.

I would never, ever buy any fabricated product for my car that still had plumbing markings on it. Not only is wire-wheeling the entirety of each piece a good practice in surface preparation, but also, failure to do this is a good indication of fabricator laziness. It only takes 10 mins to zip over all the pieces. If someone's too lazy to do this, I certainly wouldn't trust their work.

I find it very hard to put extra time into something like polishing, simply because a manifold takes long enough to make on its own. Obviously, I would only do it for a customer who was willing to pay for it. I do like the look of polished stainless though.

Anyone have pics of Miller's old polished full-race topmount?

It is a prime example that a proper polish job is badass.

Polished manifolds come out pretty nice when done right.

Wow, that looks slick. Do you polish as you complete the different sections? I see that some of the welds are still not polished.

Looks real nice!

polishing the heavy stuff is very very time consuming, i did it to this one and will nver do it to another. The initial polish sucks but keeping up on it really sucks

Yeah, keeping up with the polish though, is a major pain in the ***.

Doing one for the bling bling will be fun, but HELL no would I do it all the time. WAY to much time in an already **** market where you have to compete with 100.00 ebay junk.

Quickest, drop it off at a place that polishes things.
