I just sold my 73 cb500 , so i decided , it was time to buy a brand new bike , i was going to finance it . the loan was already approved all i had to do was finalize the sale . however the local ad paper came out today and therewas a 2001 r6 listed for 2500 , well i figured it was worth checking out it was only an hour away. so i went after work tonight , took cash just incase , and sure enough it was a hell of a deal , it had new pirelli diablo tires , yoshimura cf exhaust , some very minor scratches and one small crack in the plastic . the worst thing was the previous owner before the guy I bought it off of took a hammer to the tank he must of been a stunta
. anyhow overall it was too good to pass up ran good and shifted perfect. its not new like I planned but i payed cash so no monthly payments , so that leaves extra cash for mods.

I don't know. If the forks weren't leaking, he probably didn't get very far in his stunting career.
As long as you are happy with the bike, great buy. If you end up not caring for it, you can likely sell it and get your money out of it, then put that towards a new bike like planned.
congrats, i have an 02, great bikes but they are a bit touchy in compairison to other bikes in my opinion. but i still like it. i lucked out to and bought it with 5226 miles on it from a dealer used for a good price

i know this a common complaint on these bikes but i have never once had an issue with mine, i think it may be due to the milage of mine because my buddy has an 02 as well but he has about 18000 on his and the front end feels significantly "looser" for lack of a better word than mine does. i partially blame his cheap tires. but i also attribute it to his stock suspension settings. these bike are setup very poorly suspension wise from the factory and benifit greatly from stiffing up EVERYTHING. i am not a professional by any means but i spent a few hours one day plus a few weeks of tweaking to get mine to where i like it and where there is adequate travel. in compairison to my friends it is like 2 entirely different bikes and i can see where his would have this problem espessially under hard acceleration out of a corner. having never ridden his as hard as i ride mine i cant say for sure. i guess what im getting at is i attribute this complaint to people who rode the bike without ever taking the time to properly set up the bike and just letting it destroy itself over time from milage...
