O.Z. MSW Meshies: How do you take off the center caps?
Update, posted some pictures of the hole/screw.
Hi, my friend recently cleaned out his garage and gave these rims to me. I am not sure what model it is, but it is similar to these rims, besides the rivets. My question is how do you take off the center caps? It seems there is a round hole to place something in there like a key, but I don't have it and I don't know how to take it out. I can take pictures of the hole tomorrow but here is an example of what the rims look like. Let me know if anyone can help me, thanks.

The last pictures is the same if not similar model of mine.

yeah some type of key man.. it's usually a round key w/like a triangular shaped pattern of 3 metal metal pegs that matches up to the holes then you just twist the screws off.
EDIT: This post is WRONG. See replies below.
I think they probably originally sold the wheels with a wrench that looked like this:

If the octagonal pattern in the middle is exactly 2 3/4 inches across, you could buy that one (click on the photo) and try it. Otherwise, you're stuck trying to find one. You could try contacting OZ at info@ozracing.com
Another thing you can try is using a big pipe wrench to tighten and remove the wheel cap. Put a shop rag between it and the wheel cap to avoid scratching it.

If you look closely at the picture, the OZ rims have a little key, which is not the center cap. I will try to get a picture of it but it is an odd key.
You're right. Forget what I posted above; it appears that the "big bolt head" part of the middle of the center cap is just for looks. My bad.
does that bolt go all the way through the hub? if so then flip the wheel over and then maybe somehow drill the stud out?
and sorry i have no idea what to use. just bring the wheels to a shop or hardware store and experiment.

My old MSW 55c's had one bolt that was a key to get the cap off it was a allen key with a small center pin in it snap on and a few higher grade tool companies make them.
Found them they are called temper proof torx bits.atleast thats what mine were on my msw's

I had a set of fittipaldis with the same thing. Contact oz for the tool as mentioned previuosly. Or, you hammer in a larger torx or allen into it. Or, drill the head off.
Contacted O.Z. a couple days ago and still no response. Do you think if I break the lock I can replce it with a regular screw or something? BTW breaking it is the last resort I want to do.
i have the same rims on my car. i bought mine used and they didnt come with the screws for the center caps so i just left them off
LOL who put them sticky weights on the rim........
