Default Shifter bushings

Hello H-T , Well...i was driving my car today and coming up my neighborhood i downshifted and heard a slight "pop" right underneath my shifter...

after diagnosing some more, i can hear the popping if i put it in 4th/5th and tap the throttle...shifter also moves with the popping...

could this be the result of bad shifter bushings? or some loose screws be the culprit...about to check in a little bit...had to wait for the car to cool down...exhaust is right there and i didnt feel like getting burned

Yep, jack the car up. Have a friend sit inside and you get under it, have the friend move the shifter around and you look at it from underneath to see whats going on. A bolt might have backed out or something.
