Default H22a H23a

Can someone explain to me how much a JDM H23a VTEC has in common with a regular H22a and a nonvtec H23a? Is the block different? Is the head the same as the H22a?

Can you put a 95mm crank in a normal H22a block and are there rods to make it work?

Yes the 95 crank will fit in the h22a just run the h23a rods with it. Just make sure the the block has 50 mm mains and your good.

I am assuming that is all the factory H23a VTEC is, a normal H22a block with a 95mm crank?

So I would need to use a 93-97 H22a block with the smaller mains? And use the H23a rods?

What about the pistons? Is there any difference between non VTEC H23 rods and the DOHC VTEC JDM H23 rods? Are there any other significant differences with the JDM H23a VTEC?

Just check the part numbers they should be the same. Its probably more simple and cheaper to just get h23a crank and rods and put them in an h22a assuming u can get an h22a block for cheap. If you run jdm h22a pistons with the h23 crank you will yield about 11.7:1 compression with type s pistons its around 12.2:1. The f22b crank and rods are the same parts as the h23 crank and rods that might be cheaper and easier to get as well.

Is this something that has been tried and proven?
