My hvac blower/radio quits sporadically when I start the car and never comes back on. It happened once about a month ago, and then the other other day, and now much more often then not it goes out as soon as you turn key to fire engine.
I can get the blower working again but apparently only by luck, turning the car on/off again. I hear a relay clicking behind the hvac control panel, sometimes I hear it sometimes not. When not, the blower and radio obviously aren't getting power.
Is there a relay which powers the blower and radio both? Where is it? Is this a common failure problem?
If I thought it was a bad ground or broken wire, I would think it would happen sporadically like when going down the road hitting bumps. Only thing sporadic about this malfunction happens when starting the car...wierd, (maybe the igntion cylinder contacts are shorted).
HELP, its hot as heck out there and I need my AC

Figured it out myself, took the ignition switch apart, and found that the contacts were dirty. Sand paper and a pencil eraser later they were clean and working fine so far. Hopefully good for another 18 years!
