Why are track bikes cheap?
I always see track bikes going for so much less than a stock street bike of the same model. And they have plenty of performance upgrades like shocks, springs, chains, exhaust, rearsets, etc. What makes them cheaper besides not having a headlight? Because it's assumed they've been dropped plenty of times?
They are cheap for a number of reasons. To begin with, many track bikes have salvage titles and/or are not legally allowed to be ridden on the street. This alone will take away a great deal of value from a bike. The vast majority of people will never ride on a track so owning a track-only bike is not desireable.
many cheap track bikes ive seen are either salvage/no title bikes, have been down, or are on their last leg
but otoh, ive seen more than a few track bikes that go for the price of several street bikes combined. private racing aint cheap

Majority are bought new, ridden for a month, claimed stolen...And then converted into track bikes to never see the road again.

Bull ****! A total scum bag would try that, and There are very few scum bags at the track!
You might have stunters and road racers mixed up!

I was thinking about...the aftermarket parts alone would probably make up for half the cost of the bike itself, and if it's able to run on the track i'm sure it's easy to make it run on the street.
And second reason i ask is because i'm taking mine out for the first time and if i want to sell it would it lower the value that it's been on the track crash or no crash?

No, I don't. Infact, most racers are just as big of scum bags as the stunters. Every group has their ups and downs, pretending that track riders are any better is completely incorrect.
There are MANY shady "race" bikes out there.

Taking a bike onto the track isn't going to lower it's value. Judging you since you asked this question, I'm going to assume you're not going to go quick enough to really ring the bike out much.

why? everyone crashes at some point. Going down isn't a big deal as long as you're geared up.

Going down isn't a question of IF but WHEN. Unfortunately I experienced my first crash last month but with the proper gear and angels over my shoulders watching me, I live to ride another day.

Sounds like you can't really afford to be doing track days then . . .
