2001 Honda Accord EX - Parking Light Switch
Hi,
This is for my cousin. He is hooking up some face cluster gauges with their own light source powered from the battery.
The instructions explain to connect the power cable from the face cluster gauges to the parking light switch.
Now connect me if I am wrong, but is not the parking light switch, the switch to turn on the corner lights?
Also, I told him to connect down to the in-dash fuse box.
Does anyone know which fuse location to plug in the power source for the face cluster gauges? BTW, this is again, a 2001 Honda Accord EX.
Thanks,
Jon

Yes, the parking light switch does turn on the corner lights, which will remain on when you turn on the headlights as well, thus illuminating the gauges that you are installing.

This might work. I am not 100% sure, but you should be able to connect it to the parking light fuse. Look for a diagram of your fuse box. On the Accord, it comes stock with a diagram of the fuse locations on the outside of the fuse box. If yours is missing, search for one in a repair manual, or online or on a similar Accord in a junk yard or something.
You HAVE to be careful which side of the fuse you are connecting it to though. I had connected my amp to my radio fuse to only turn on when the radio is getting power. Unfortunately, I was dumb and connected it to the power side. My amp randomly shorted out and almost caught a fire because it was getting the power at the entry point to the fuse and not at the exit after it passes through the fuse.
You can remove the fuse and use a volt meter to test which point is the live prong of the fuse to make sure you connect it correctly.
