Default People who own s2k, Pros and Cons

Hey my dad was looking for a decent daily car to drive back and forth from work and go out every so often. Something with comfort and decent speed, but good on gas.
He wanted to pick up a lotus exige but he heard that the comfort isnt that great, so hes having 2nd opinions, and also were looking at matinance cost too. Then he asked me about the s2k. I told him its pretty decent all around.
Sooo...I just wanted to get your guys opinions about the pros and cons on the s2k.
Or any recommendations on any other cars that are around or under 40k.
Thanks

comfort + lotus or s2000 = not a good combination

think of it this way. would you want to be in a fighter jet on a commute from california to new york city? thats why they have commercial jets (comfortable, not a fast)

fast, comfortable, good gas mileage...nothing off the top of my head, sorry

they are not even at the same class, with the exige, it's a monster on the track but it's gonna beat you up driving it everyday, i drove the plain jane elise, i seriously can't get in or out and i am not even tall.

s2000 would be more civilize side of the scale, of course at expense of ballz out performance.

both are great car, waht's best depends on what your pop needs

nismo z would make a great car for daily, very easy to drive, very forgiving and not much tail sliding

well it doesnt have to be hella quick. i think more of less hes aiming for comfort and gas mileage.
yes we all know the lotus are mostly built for auto cross/road race. therefore its not really built for daily driving. esp with all the suck construction going on in vegas.
anyways, i think i was aiming for him a 350z or g35. both are decent cars from what i know.
just seeing whats the honda people got to bring to the table :]
thanks :]

Sounds like the G35 would be his best bet then... I think he should pick the car himself though. He is the one that's gotta drive it. Most Japanese imports get good gas millage and are reliable.

My boy gets reasonable MPG in his 350. I mean around 20ish on average. Guess that's not too great.

Heavy cars though, that's for sure. I would never get one myself. 240sx FTW! If I wanted something nicer I would go straight to the G

g35 is a little slower but has more seats. 350z would be more of a week end car being its only a two seater and a little faster.

Seriously, how could comfort even be in the same paragraph as S2000?

That's not to say that the car is uncivil, but I can guarantee your old man would get tired of using it as a daily. Shoot, my GC'd civic rides nicer and smoother than my bone stock AP1.

335. More car for the same money as the ridiculously overpriced 135.

I've only had mine for 2 weeks and I wouldn't make it a DD..thats for sure.

Drove it 4 hours back when I bought it and it gave me a head ache..lol.

Around town, back roads it's a blast...but again not something I would want to DD in.

G35 would be the car of choice for that...decent power, comfortable.

I co-drive an Elise in SCCA Solo, and it makes my S2000 feel like a Buick, in size, weight and comfort.

If you want fun and comfort, buy an MX5.

G35 is not good on gas. Sounds like your dad needs an accord if he wants comfort, and gas mileage.

How about a TL Type-S? Its a very different car than the S, but for a DD I think they are great cars.

bullshit. My 350z got better mileage than my AP1 gets, with 400whp boosted. G35's get the same mileage as the Z's.

G35's will get mid to high 20's mpg on highway, and low to mid 20s in city.

FWIW, our 04 accord v6 got 23mpg mixed city/highway, so it wasn't that much of a sipper.

no, nothing is wrong with my ap1.

it's a 2000 LX sedan on GC street version with Tokico blues. It's a smoother ride than my ap1. Albeit handling isn't as good, it's definitely a smoother ride.

Helps that I don't have the car slammed. The lower you go with the GC's the worse the ride is.

Your problem was you were running super stiff GC springs with stock shocks. Your setup was underdamped, which would give you a crap ride.
