I just put a standard exedy clutch kit in my B16 Y1 .. where would you recommend starting the adjustment at the end of the clutch cabe? Im going to adjust it tomorrow and I thought this would help save some trial and error time.

the origional clutch had about 95k on it.. I dont now how much these cables strech.

all help is appreciated!

Let all the slack out.
loose as it can go.
pull up on the arm there will be some play in it.
Dont pull hard and disangauge the clutch ,
just pull it up enough to take up the play and tighten the cable down till it holds the lever up to where there no play in the arm.

I have found that if you pull up on the cable just enough to take out the slack and spin the adj nut down just snug (No force at all) is a good place to start.
There should be a little play.

When you are done with that check the pedal's free play and make sure you have some. If none loosen the adj nut. I have found that just two clicks at a time is enough to feel a difference.

Im assuming it is the stock dx cable.

The entire leangth of the cable is not what matters, its the leangth of the cable that comes out from the shroud that matters.

Use the integra cable. And use the integra throttle cable as well.

It be longer once you get it in there, also the pedal will feel alot better with the ls cable, you sholud have more travel in it.

ok so im seriously stumped.. heres the story over again.. I was getting onto the freeway.. 1st was fine .. 2nd grinded a lil.. I thought maybe I didnt have the clutch all the way in.. 3rd grinded a lil..

so I changed my flywheel.. throwout bearing.. pilot bearing.. and clutch which had no fricton material left on it.. (down to the rivits)..

I put it all back together and then this post happened..

so I put the cable on.. and adjusted it so it had tension..started the car and tried to go into third.. but it grinded a little so I adjusted it a little more

some trial and ERROR later..
[IMG][/IMG]

from what you guys have been telling me.. theres no way it should be adjusted this far and still ginding..

also.. when I try to go Into 1st..It wont even grind.. it just wont go in... could it be the shift linkage causing all the touble??????

most likely its not the cable , my car has the same problem just with third gear which is pretty common for honda's, it's the syncros in the tranny once there bad it will grind every time. making the clutch cable tighter will not fix the problem. also what kind of oil did you put back in the trans? and what kind of car was the clutch made for ? The shift linkage wouldnt make it grind at all. it has to be in the trans. another thing to check which happend to my car is the pedal bracket on the fire wall to make sure its not cracked. look under the dash with a light and push the clutch pedal with your hand. when you push see if the bracket moves.

just adjust the nut to the point you can pull it max 1/8in from the bracket.

it looks like you have it adjusted way further away in the pic.

The 'arm' should have a few millimetres of play. You don't want it to be too loose, or you may have notchy shifting. But you also don't want it to be too tight.
