Default over size valves for all h22 good or bad?

got a race ported h22 head w/1mm O.S. valves. is that good or bad for running all motor? what is the highest comp... pistons can i run, and biggest cams.

some people told me to degree the cams.

my friend got this head done by skunk2 a long time a go. he was going to turbo it, but then switch to B-series and never used the head

It depends on if your going to use a big cam or not. You have to degree it for sure and check piston to valve clearance. I do Valve to valve with the head off then bolt it down and check piston to valve. Doing that also allows you to tell your tuner the key information he needs to tune your car. You know how far he can advance or retard the cam gears.

Most off the shelf pistons are not made for 1mm oversize valves, but some may clear but dont assume that especially with 1mm oversize. They may clear on some, but you have to clay the motor with the cam you decide to use especially if youre running all motor pistons. 99% of all motor setup dont even need to go that oversize of a valve in my opinion.
Keep in mind that that being that oversize can also affect performance if it doesnt match with the rest of your setup. It may possibly be the weak link of your engine setup if its not needed.
If you got it from a friend, just because it maybe a good deal, doesnt mean its worth using for your own setup. Too big of a valve, bad valve job, etc, can totally kill the performance of a motor.

pick a cam then get a custom piston to match the specs of the cam and the valvesize. that way you can get the compression you want and the bore size at the same time.

I dont really like the idea of over sized valves with all motor setups, especially since i made 300+ on oem size valves, but since the head is already done there is not too much you can do .

I would just double and triple check v2v and p2v clearance.

Are the pistons already made?

just get a custom piston made to your specs. maybe larger valve reliefs. . .

Who is building the engine? What compression are you looking for ?

im planing on 12:5 and up, but like i said its all about the valves. if i can go higher than 12:5 that would be nice.

wiseco, cp , je are all good and will make you a custom piston.

I would even talk to bisimoto in your case. I'm sure he can design something sick for you

here's some examples of some custom H22 pistons we've done with Arias. I've had other turbo ones done too but dish pistons all look the same hehe.

14:1 we got done a couple years ago for a customer.

Another ~15:1 we did for another build.

Arias on both of those i posted up.

$640 for custom pistons. Can do custom bore, custom compression, valve reliefs, wrist pin height(stroker).
