can sum1 please answer my question I have 2 many people telling me 2 many things!!
Okay yeah I have done my search and I still can't find my answers please help me out here im feed up with listing 2 all these so called performance shops and people
I have stock rods with stock rod bolts on .20 ctr pistons
Question is will the stock rod bolts hold?or should I just change them 2 arp And are .20 over ctr pistons capable of dropping 11s ?please explain this
Its not gonna be a daily driven car and its gonna be tunned and runned on 110 octane...car is gonna be used 2 run at da track but also in the streets
All in a gutted out cut doors eg vx hatch
And jeff evans may be tunning it not sure yet
My setup is:
Typer head
Full race port and polish
Skunk2 pro series mani and 68 mm throttle body port and matched
Supertech flat top vavles, titiuam retainers and dual springs
Skunk2 stage 3 cams
Skunk2 cam gears
440 rc injectors
Milled 10,000 I beilve
Golden eagle fuel rail and aem fuel regulator
Block is
Gsr block
.20 over ctr pistons
Typer oil pump
Typer water pump
Acl racing bearings
New balance gsr rods and new honda rod bolts
Micropolished crank

For a build with that much money invested into it, why didn't you just get arp rod bolts, for under $100 installed, its good insurance. I've seen several boosted cars hit low and mid 12's on stock blocks and heads. The only boosted car I know of hitting 11.6 has arp rod bolts and dual valve springs. Other than that, car is all stock.
Stock parts are stronger than most people realize, but if they got lots of mileage and you're gonna replace them anyways, it's best to upgrade to some heavy duty parts, such as arp bolts and studs. The cast ctr pistons should be fine though.

Thanks a lot yeah ima take da motor 2 put the arp rod bolts on since it hasn't been dropped in yet....also wut size mm arp rod bolts due I have 2 get for gsr is it 8mm or 9mm?

I think you are asking what size rod bolt for a gsr rod? If so then get the 9mm arps but I don't think you absolutely need them.
I don't mind answering questions but it would really be helpful if you would state the question clearly.

Okay wut size arp rod bolts fit on stock gsr rods and also would ctr pistons due the job!!
Mind evrything on my motor is brand new

Yeah they said 9mm called them 2day but one question is still there which is are ctr piston cabable of dropping 11s on a setup like mines

No, the CTR's won't support 11 sec. 1/4 mile build, or no his setup won't reach his goal for 11 sec 1/4 mile?

Pick one. I love this drag race forum. What kind of wheelie bars? They make a differance. CTR pistons, 1600lb. rear springs, and wheelie bars = 11.99, everyone knows that.
Please don't take this the wrong way, as I am not trying to be a smart ***, but I was under the impression that cast pistons can handle pretty much the majority of all motor builds.
What HP would you recommend or estimate as the peak for cast pistons assuming proper tuning, clearances, etc. for an all motor build?
So then do you recommend the OP go with Forged pistons and rods for 11 sec. goal?

He's saying that CTR pistons alone cannot get you "11's" any way you look at it. They are only one piece of an engine equation, something the OP and possibly you are failing to remember.

There is no black and white answer for this question. The general answer is that you can make large, possibly even huge amounts of power on cast/stock pistons and rods. The word "reliably" is subjective...if a part is only supposed to last 5 races and does, it would be considered reliable. If it was supposed to last 150k on a daily driver, "reliable" means an altogether different thing.
The OP doesn't need forged pistons, he needs to do some reading and educate himself before he attempts to build anything or send it to someone qualified to build it right. Learning how to properly spell words and type a question would help a great deal as well. Typing as if you're texting just comes across as plain lazy and ignorant and not many people want to help someone like that.

Yes, I'm aware that the CTR pistons are just 1 factor in the large equation which constitutes a successful build, and I am aware that the CTR pistons alone will not get the OP into 11's.
Maybe I worded it incoherently, I should have asked DonF if the CTR pistons would be reliable (for the OP's plans) in an 11 sec build, assuming they were part of a properly tuned and built motor by an experienced or very thorough person who ensured all the clearances and torque specs, etc. were within spec.

not sure if it'll dip into the 11's but might make 200whp if Jeff is doing the tuning.

I highly doubt dat...a friend of mines had a lsv with b16 piston crower stage 2 and bullshit bolt ons and he did 12.9..and his launch was horrible and the car died in frist gear then he picked up in a dx hatch full interior and a metal jdm integra front...so I think I should be doing a lot better then dat just my opinion

Thanks for trying 2 get a correct answer...so I came 2 a conclusion ima gonna drop the motor in sat and tune and dyno it so ill be posting my dyno chart by next week and ill be at da track to c wut the car could due and ill post that 2 I guess there's no real answer to this until I find out my self...and im not trying 2 be a smart *** in anyway and yes this is my first build and I wanted 2 be helped by you guys who have done this and have been through it and I have done research but there's always sumthing that makes me double think thing because sum1 says won thing and the other person says another...I came on this site becuase I know that many maybe all of you or exprienced and could guide me...but im just being bashed on so will keep all of u posted on my power I put out and numbers thanks for beating on the noob for looking for help

This isn't bashing, this is solid advice I would give to anyone including myself if I were in your shoes. You have to realize that just because people aren't giving you the answers you want, doesn't mean they're not giving you good advice.
Learning to read between the lines FTW.
