Does Anyone Know What The Ho Vtec Means?

there are 3 different K20's...
a) K20a (a1- Japanese market Only! = TYPE R's)
b) K20a2 (the H.O. Vtech version your looking at in those ads)
c) K20a3 (mainly found in the civic Si Hatch-EP3- and maybe the rsx base)
These "Ho Vtec"'s being the K20a2... the High Output version allowed to the USA-
we can't get an a1- so the a2 is our HO... catching on!
the Type S has the"4 cyl 2.0 liter HO VTEC" = "195HP stock"
versus my Si's with a "4cyl 2.0 liter LO VTEC" = "165HP stock"
(aprox. and that's NOT to the wheels!)
but in both US versions (a2, a3) they are actually "i-VTEC's" -the "i" = INTAKE ONLY!
the people listing them rarely put in "i-Vtec" -but that's what they are.
the JDM K20a (a1) TYPE R engine has BOTH dual Intake, AND Exhaust varied cams... "220" HP!
you can't find a decent Type R engine in the us for under 8K- unless you want one that's been beat on!
so look for the serial numbers on the block- it should be an a2 if you want decent performance...

thnx great help this was what i was looking forward to comming to RSX-EP3 Rather Then Getting Flammed At For Wanting ITB's On my first KSeries. Thnx You been a great Help i Tried Searching google for the Ho Vtec but all i got was a bunch of Ads Once Thnx again
You got flamed because it was a silly idea for a first mod, and even then you wouldn't listen.
Anyways, used car places are just adding the HO (High Output) tag to the description of the car. This usually means it is the Type-S version with 200HP. Nothing more, nothing less.

Umm... doesn't i-VTEC mean intelligent VTEC from my understanding? The i-VTEC system is a dual stage VTEC system, meaning there's 2 extra cam profiles instead of just 1 like the old VTEC, right?

Wrong. the I stands for intellengent. It refers to the new VTEC engines ability to adjust cam timing, whereas the old VTEC engine was only able to alter valve timing via diffrent cam lobe profiles.
