Experience with Crane Stg 3 cams!
Like the tittle says, i need some input on the Crane stage 3 vtec cams. Has anyone here ever use them and how did you like them. If i get the crane cams am i better getting the crane Valvetrain or can i get another brand?...I did search but didnt find much.
My setup is an lsvtec and consists of
b18a1 block .20 over
rs machines b16 pistons .20 over
stock b16 head
skunk2 IM
bored out stock TB to match IM, 64mm i think
My compression at this time should be in the 12:1 the block and head were both shaved 5 thousands of an inch. I dynoed and made 164 whp and 123 tq. I still have a lot of improvement to make as i'm still running the stock exhaust mani, 2.25 exhaust and stock injectors. Right now i can get the cams for real cheap and dont wanna pass up on the opportunity if they will yield good power with the setup i have. Or is this overkill? I will be getting a hytech reply header, 310cc injectors and a 2.5" exhaust to help everything out.
Thanx for any help

thanx for the input
when i searched i found another guy that said the same thing. he said he had been running it for about 2 yrs and one of the cams broke. the thread dated back like 2 yrs i think, i would think crane did something about their cams if they got complaints about them braking.
Anyone else willing to chime in??

i've been using crane stage 2 cams in my b16 for 4 years now, daily driven, year round. The last 1.5 years have been boosted too.
I'm using their recommended valvetrain and adjustable gears, without gear adjustments they made 168whp on my b16 before the boost and 250whp on 8psi.

Thank you both for your input.
I think im just going to pass on the cams. They are a great price but im not going to put my motor at risk of something cratastrophic happening just cause the cams are a "great price."
mikesrex- if you dont mind me asking, what kind of damage was done to the motor from the cam breaking?

I've been running stg 1 in my car for over 7k miles half of which are boosted no problems yet. Crane has been making cams forever I doubt if you'll have a problem
